this seems really nice, but I am wondering how many people have a smart phone that know what to do with a QR code? also how many people would look twice at my Pit Bull to actually do this (no she is not mean, she is the best dog I have ever had and would lick you to death!)

One of the things that people were suggesting in this thread (http://slickdeals.net/f/4255248) was to have this as a supplementary tag to a regular name and number one. This way, if you're unavailable, whoever finds your pet still knows all the essentials. There's also a URL, so if whoever finds your pet doesn't know what to do with a QR code, they can at least visit the website.

I noticed when making the thread that there is also a 24/7 toll free telephone number on the tag in the event that the person that finds your pet doesnt have a smart phone, or the know how to use the QR code.

fyi, the $9 premium add-on is only for one-year. the regular cost is $39 annually, which I assume would be the cost for years 2+ (although they seem to regular run this promo, so you could just get new tags).

I don't get the point of QR codes for something like this. Why note just avoid the hassle and put your address and phone number on the tag?

these things are counter productive...
let's say a ole bitty(is it biddy..idk) finds your cat...she will have no idea what a qr code is...
even if there is a number...it's a middle man...
and it will take longer to get your cat back...
you can get normal pet ids on ebay for around the same price...
does this do anything a normal ID wont?
i want one that the ole biddy will push a button and a princess Leia hologram comes out...

I don't know of many, if any people that actually put their address on a pets ID tag. Name and number, yes but no address.

DIY Alternative:
- Create a personalized pet tag with the following listed: pet name, owner phone number, bit.ly shortened web address
- The web address is a link to a public document in your Dropbox or Google Drive or Evernote account that can have as much detailed info you want similar to what this service offers. The document can be edited and updated at any time.

Got these, not worth the cost and annual subscription fee IMO. Instead, I got a customized dog tag from Walmart for $6, put a website on it from a free blog site like wordpress.com or blogger.com and put info there on the "status" of my dog, contact info, medicines, friendliness with other pets, etc. One time cost of $6.

I got tricked into one of those deal sites at half price for the low end pethub tag and the premium one. Regret that purchase.

I got 3 of these for our dogs when they were free earlier this year. It works okay, but easily bends and the paint scratches off easily if you have a dog that plays ruff or scratches a lot, it wont last long. A person can still read the web address to visit, but the QR doesn't work anymore, the tag is deformed enough.

You can get very well made laser etched alumium tags on ebay or direct from websites for under $3 delivered
