I despise retailer exclusive content if it is not available for everyone to purchase as DLC later on. I am actually still not thrilled with paying for DLC content, but I guess that's the future of all gaming.
And the corporate defenders always are quick to say "It will be available down the line; no one said you have to buy them all now to get it." And while a game this big will more than likely have the missions released later (the costumes are iffy though, because I want to say Brotherhood or Revelations had costumes that remained locked out...can't remember), there are other games that kept their retailer-exclusive bonus content as an exclusive.
A recent example is Lollipop Chainsaw. There were costumes that were exclusive to Gamestop, Amazon, and Best Buy. Suda and the Grasshopper rep on twitter have said repeatedly that the content was pre-order only and will never be released as DLC.
I know some would say that costumes are not important to a game and no one is entitled to every piece of content, but I love that game and would pay them money for more content because I love their company's games. I want to be able to support some companies but they make it so difficult to be a fan sometimes.
Luckily I was able to buy some of the costumes off eBay and CAG, but that didn't benefit Grasshopper at all. And I got the three I obtained for low prices, but the gouging for the remaining two and the fact that not many people pre-ordered to begin with (meaning only a few amount of codes are out there) means I will never be able to get the LJU and Ash costumes.
It sucks when they announce stuff like this (Mass Effect 3 with the multiple pieces of retailer-exclusive content, content for buying action figures, content for buying books, different content between standard and LE copies), because I think "Man, I really love this game/series a lot. But to get everything, I would need to buy and return 3 different copies of the game?! Why?!"
I don't need this until Christmas. Will it be cheaper between now and then?
Most likely yes. Ubisoft games always have some nice sales on their games in the first couple months. Black Friday is your best bet to check for a sale on it. If I remember correctly its usually around $30-$35 during that time.
Can you please explain how you will be able to get it for 10 in 60 days? I am guessing that you are Silver Rewards zone member.
Well if the game drops to $30-$35 during the holiday sales, along with the $20 gift certificate that is about $10 for the game. Get it price matched by them and there you go. I think that's what he meant, highly doubt this game will be $10 in 2 months.
Any news on TRU? I have a $50 gift card that I picked up when I got copies of RE6 for me and the hubby, would like to use it on this but I might hang on to it for Halo 4:/
I see that currently, they are running 2 promos. 1) Through 11/10, spend $75, get a $10 gift card. And 2) buy 1 video game, get a second for 40% off (but I don't see an expiration date for this promo, so I don't know if it will be going next week, and it specifically says excludes pre-orders).
Gloria: What does he mean by “more wow”? Manny: It’s the Bieber-ization of America. Jay: What do beavers have to do with anything? Gloria: The beavers, they build the dams all over the country so there's no floods - is the beaverization of the Americas.
Jay & Gloria playing charades:
Jay holds up one finger (indicating one word).
Gloria: The finger. The one finger. Pointing. Sky... Cloudy with the chance of the meatballs!
Jay: This means one word!
Great deal at Target. Purchase it in B2G1 free. Return the other two games and you walk out for 40+tax on day 1.
They also had "reservation" cards if you pre-ordered in the store before 10/23/12. The card costs $1, but they will give you a $5 gift card when you pick up your pre-order. So technically, thats an extra $4 savings (per pre-ordered game).
