Thread Details

After spending almost an hour this morning going through the paper ads and online ads of seven different grocery/drug stores looking for a deal on Kellogg's PopTarts, I got really frustrated and thought, why don't we have a thread in the DS Forum for deal seeking on a particular item? I know there is a "Help Me Find a Deal" forum on SD but most of those in that forum are looking for tech deals, car deals, phone deals, etc. Besides, most of the DS folks never venture outside of the DS forum anyway.

You should limit your deal-seeking request to grocery/drugstore items only, i.e, milk, cereal, diapers, shampoo, toothpaste, etc. No car batteries, tires, phones, computers, appliances, blah, blah, blah......

Anyhow, if the Mods think this thread is a waste of space, they can just delete it. Big Grin

I've been wondering what the best deals are that people are finding on Halloween candy. The blogs I've looked at always seem to report it as price-per-bag, which isn't very helpful when you don't know how many pieces there are. Has anyone done or seen a cost-per-piece breakdown of any of the candy deals??

I don't know what stores you have in your area but here's what I did this week. My Winn-Dixie has Starburst and Skittles BOGO free. My Walmart matches the BOGO price but they use their own shelf price, not WD's.

Walmart's shelf price is $2.28 per bag. They charge $2.27 for the first bag and .01 for the second. Then I used the $1/2 IP from coupons.com [coupons.com]. (zip 77417) $1.28 OOP for 2 bags or .64 each.

If your Walmart will match BOGO the way mine do, find yourself an ad with BOGO candy and get some coupons. Smilie

I thought Walmart's policy on PMing BOGOs was only if the specific item price is stated in the competitor's ad. Since your WM doesn't follow this policy OMG, I'll have to try this out at mine and see what happens!

I'm in MS and that's how they do it here. It also works that way in two of the Alabama stores I have shopped at. My mom lives in FL though and hasn't had much luck convincing her stores. Frown

I love it though. They not only use their shelf price, they let me use coupons. I really hate WM but there are times I walk away with some GREAT deals on groceries. Especially BOGO cereal deals. Whee

How about Cat food or supplies... Dog food would be okay, too. But cat food is what I'm always searching for.

I'm from the Chicago area.

Wave bounce in MoCo too and I don't bite or clear shelves Wink
I've never seen that kind of breakdown. I think it would also depend on the size of pieces laugh out loud
or a breakdown as to how many trick-o-treaters you can "feed" LMAO

fyi...I have read here that Safeway has a sale until Tuesday on their small bags for 2/$2 and lots of ppl have found $.75/1 peelies w/ no size restriction that double to make them 50c each. I have checked a bunch of stores and no peelies yet unfortunately Frown

just a comment.

What may be a deal to one person (just starting out couponing) may not be considered a deal for others. My buy price for boxes of cereal is $1 or less a box, but I have a friend that buys at $3 a box (which to me is not a deal).

Hi ! I love the idea of this thread.

I am looking for a deal on listerine mouthwash. I am in Tampa FL and have cvs, walgreens, and publix pretty close by.

Trying to get the price down to ~$2 a bottle for the large bottles(1.5 L ?) or maybe $1 for the size right below that.

thanks for any suggestions!

This week at CVS (10/28-10/31)

Listerine Advanced, Total Care, UltraClean 500ml or Reach floss 30-50 yds. $3.99 Get $2 ECB Limit 2
$.50/1 Listerine Antiseptic Mouthwash, UltraClean, Zero, Total Care Anticavity Mouthwash, Fluoride Defense, any 500 mL or larger or Listerine Whitening, any 16 fl oz or larger (No more than 4 coupons (of any kind) for the same product in the same transaction) - 10-28-12 SS

Not a super great deal since it's for the smaller bottles, but if you really need it, $1.50 per bottle isn't too shabby.

The price isn't great (or even good) at $5.99 for 1-liter, but if you have RRs to burn, Walgreens is offering 10,000 reward points wyb $30 worth of Healthy Essentials products, which includes select 1-liter Listerine (check page 10 of their ad for other inclusions). Just thought I'd mention it.

Certainly not the cheapest we've been able to get it but this week Wags has Gillette BW BOGO 50% off and if you buy $20 worth, you get 3,000 points. There are .50/1 MQ's in yesterday's P&G.

Can you get the military discount? That would take another 15% off.

Prices for this stuff seems to vary by store so I can't really lay out a scenario for you, but my store charges $4.49. With my discount and MQ's and after points, it works out to be $2.14 a bottle.
