You could always trade it in to sony and get a GC value higher than what you originally paid

Haha, yeah, I saw that thread. Unfortunately, Sony stores sell overpriced crap. Plus, there aren't any B&M stores nearby me, and there's no way I'm shipping them a laptop and trusting that they will give me the right price.

Usually their stuff is overpriced, but its worth holding out for outlet sales, or buying their gaming systems(if you're into that stuff). Ofcourse the incentive isnt there for someone not looking into sony products in general; however, I sincerely doubt they would screw you out of your valuation(one of the laptops I sent in barely works, and went through fine)

I have the same problem, so I completed the BIOS upgrade and still have this annoying fan issue, so I'm seriously thinking of returning this. I know the trade-in value for the Sony deal is about $432, so I'm looking into that, but have to agree with the poster above regarding Sony's "overpriced crap". Is anybody flipping these on Craigslist?

Just checked 3 stores in Northern Va today (Two on Richmond Highway in Alexandria, and the one in Kingstowne) none to be had even though the Kingstowne store showed 16 in stock. The CSR at kingstowne said that people had been coming in for it for a few days already and didn't bother to even scan it. Store manager just said if they said they didn't have it then they didn't have it. Not sure what is going on there but if I was a store manager and my store was missing 16 high dollar items I would have some serious questions about where my inventory was.

OK, so this is pretty funny. I checked online and one of my local Walmarts here in New Hampshire showed it as in stock. So I go to the store and it's not there, asked the sales person and they checked and said 'yes, it's in stock. In fact we have 29 of them!'

Both of us then provided to search around the department to no avail. Eventually he said he was going to check an area where they keep some other laptops and he came back about 10 minutes later, said he had not idea where they are. He said they definitely have 29 of this model laptops around here somewhere probably locked up in someones office. He thinks this is going to be a black friday deal, which is why they have 29 of them. However, he couldn't sell me one because he couldn't find them.

For those of you still looking for this, looks like Walmart will be selling this as a black friday deal!

Tag on the box says $398, rang up at $290.
Still shows in stock when I check online, though I didn't ask if there were any more.

I can confirm that mine is an i5 M 560 2.67 Ghz with 4 CPUs.

Gonna try the Sony trade-in tomorrow. Would be a deal to get $432 in the form of a gc that I can use later online in the outlet or at the b&m Sony outlet. I'm hoping they have another 50% off sale soon, maybe for black friday or cyber monday.

Anyone get the Walmart Care Plan? Anyone ever had to make a claim and did Walmart pay out right away?
