Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac - OEM Free upgrade to Parallels 8 $25

Anyone know what software qualifies as OEM software purchase? The deal earlier in the month included a free copy of Trend Micro anti-virus. But this one does not automatically include the software now.

Was thinking one of the FAR anti-virus products going right now might qualify.

$25 for Parallels 7 is still a good deal - would like to get it to qualify for the free 8 upgrade though.

Very good product if you have drive space. Install windows 7 using bootcamp, then install this and it will use the win7 bootcamp setup you made. For normal usage, you can easily use windows programs right from OSX. Only boot into bootcamp when you need more "power" of not sharing RAM etc. I've only had clients use it for Word and other real estate/financial management software that was windows only. They worked great using parallels. USB drives and network printers worked fine in windows and OSX programs.

I hate non hackintosh OSX due to cost but if you prefer OSX, parallels is very handy. Some prefer VM Fusion but I didn't use it enough to compare.

Is the software license good for one computer or more? I have 2 macs at home. Jw....thanks!

It's only good for one computer. I recently purchased it and remember seeing on their FAQ's from their website.

It's pretty cool software and has worked out very well for me.

Awesome virtualization software for Mac. I use it every day for working, loading all different kinds of Windows/Linux VMs, and they integrate seamlessly with the Mac interface.

Nice deal. Do I have to wait for Parallels 7 to come in the mail to get the activation key before requesting the upgrade to 8, or is there a faster way to get that done?

Parallels offers a free of charge upgrade to Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac for all customers who purchased a qualifying¹ upgrade version, full version, student license or OEM version of Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac between July 25, 2012 and October 30, 2012 from an authorized² reseller or directly from Parallels. Qualifying customers can claim an activation key for Parallels Desktop 8 for Mac until November 15, 2012.

I guess as long as you get it before Oct 30 you will get it.

Make sure you get something along with it. I don't think by itself you will be eligible for the upgrade.

I didn't get anything with it. I know the terms for the free upgrade make it sound like this wouldn't be eligible, but the product page on Newegg says, "Free upgrade to Parallels 8, ends 10/31". I took a screenshot of that and, if they give me any trouble, I'll get in touch with Newegg to straighten it out.

Its funny you say that as I bought it 2 months ago for 28 (got some fonts my wife wanted too). I installed Parallels 7 on my wifes mbp then applied for upgrade to 8. I installed 8 on my mac mini and referenced the other license. No issues, so yes for $25 you get the best virtualization intro software for macs x 2. Good deal.

My question still hangs - will the AVG or Trend Micro FAR software "qualify" the upgrade? The previous sale had a Trend Micro "OEM" version bundled which made it seem more legit for OEM qualifying software.

Anyone get in on the $28 and get an upgrade with just any software?
