That clears up a lot since I thought the only problem with this was the lack of a SSD. Since it's just a normal drive, swap out should be simple.

I'm worry about the battery though. 2 cell? Do not want to think about this 2 years from now.

Simple SSD swap makes it a go now for sure for me. If only it was in stock at Microsoft Store...

Definitely do that to avoid the MS Store taxes. For me, its only $10 more from amazon now, with the taxes. Definitely worth it to have it in my hand and be able to offload my netbook on ebay while they are still going for $260.

So does anyone know if you can change out the RAM/memory on this easily? Does it have the standard DIMM slots (one or two) that I can pop in some 8GB sticks into? Thanks.

Rams is solder on to the motherboard so no go on the RAM upgrade.

Got mine delivered Friday. After playing with it for a couple days definitely happy with the purchase. Touch screen works great. No performance issues either. This is my first windows 8 experience and while there is a learning curve I am liking it a lot so far. Live tiles are amazing. And while the touch screen isn't always used by me, the fact it's there is incredibly helpful. I find myself usually using the keyboard and touchpad, but then seamlessly reaching for the screen for swiping and hitting big buttons. I will say though I'm shocked at how good the build quality seems to be. The laptop seems to be mostly aluminum which is surprising in a sub-$1000 notebook. Most in this range will feel like cheap plastic that flexes. The battery isn't that bad either. If you buy a budget notebook (at least in past years) you were lucky to get 3 hours battery life. This exceeds that so I'm happy. Plus it runs cool and quiet and literally boots up (not wakes up from sleep, but cold boot) in like 10 seconds. My 3 year old budget HP laptop literally took almost 2 minutes to boot up. Big difference! So yea I guess this is a recommendation lol
