I still have my Acer Aspire Netbook from 3 years ago and it still runs nicely, just needs a replacement fan cause of the dust and heavy use for it's time. I'm currently using a refurb Dell Xps 15z and I haven't had a prob except when I clean installed my OS and didn't backup nothing and spent 2-3 hours with dell customer support (which was awesome and detailed) other than that, it's been nothing but awesome. I had a Hp Pavilion Slimline back in the 00's and had the motherboard fry after a few years, then again you guys are probably talking 5+ years of running life. I don't see the reason for all the hate, I guess I'm one of few that have had good airtime with these products.

Dell Refurb machines aren't as good as they used to be back in time. Now, they come with broken case, non working hardware and coffee stains. Recently, I had to return my certified Refurb laptop withing 24hrs. Camera, CD Player and USB weren't working. (Yes proper drivers were installed)

All laptop build quality has improved in the last 15 years. My Compaq from '99 was POS and the plastic got brittle from its own heat and parts started cracking and literally falling off. My wife's Dell from '07 was built much worse than anything I've seen in the last two years, including several Dells, an HP, a mountain of Lenovos, and an Asus. Most companies just have better methods for hinges nowadays and do a better job with heat resistant plastic and other methods than last longer. |

Excuse the double post, the $224 ones just came back in stock (though limited, might be all out now). I just bought one for $244.11 shipped. If I can call Dell tomorrow and get 10% back, I'm keeping the laptop.
Not sure if I made the right call by not paying the extra $55 and getting a Core i3 and HD 3000 graphics versus the B950 and the HD 2000. My mentality was that either are going to be significant upgrades from my current laptop, and the laptop is strictly used to pay bills... so screw future proofing right?
