This is really a good price for 50mm f1.4 if you can rip off 55-250 for 150 on craigslist. Plust 10% cash back from upromise if you have upromise card.

I got the 40mm 2.8 for $150. Now I got this. Now I just have to wait for the 5D mk2 to hit the $1500 mark. So I can have a taste of FF.

I'm pretty sure you can use these for FF cameras (at least the 50mm 1.4). Just be aware that you'll get different quality with FF vs 1.6 crop at different stops, but I think that's true for all lenses comparing FF with 1.6.

The 50mm 1.4 is EF, so it works with full frame. The 55-250 EF-S, on the other hand, is for crop sensors only. Using an EF-S lens on a FF camera can actually cause physical damage to the mirror since EF-S lenses protrude more in to the camera body...

All Canon EF lenses can be used on either FF or crop sensor cameras. Using them on the crop sensor cameras (The Rebel series, etc) will change the apparent focal length by 1.6x (so the 50mm would have the FOV of an 80mm equivalent lens on a crop sensor).

All Canon EF-S lenses can ONLY be used on the crop sensor cameras. They cannot be used on any FF bodies. There is no scaling when used on the crop sensors as this was their original intended design.

This deal is a mix of both EF (50mm) and EF-S (55-250mm) lenses. Appropriate only for people with the crop sensor cameras due to the EF-S, unless you are going to hawk the EF-S lens on Craiglist or Ebay and only use the EF.

What's the proportion on SD. I guess 95% to 5%, FF vs APS-C.

i apologize, youre right. i only saw the ef-s on the zoom lens and assumed they were both ef-s. the 50mm does work on ff.
