Don't be fooled by the authorized list of cable modems from TW. If you tell the representative that this is a 6141 modem, they will activate it without issues. The modem and connection work fine, its just a matter of red tape that you have to bypass.
most of the people can price-match at Staples and use the 20% off ...
How? I have a 20% off coupon but how do you get staples in store to price match a YMMV in store target item? This is a genuine question as this popped up on my deal alerts as im looking to buy this exact modem.
+rep if you can devise a plan to make this work!
Great rebate Companies:
Patriot Memory (4myrebate.com): 6 Weeks
Tiger Direct (4myrebate): 3 weeks
Rain-X (in house): 3 weeks
AFAIK, modems don't get outdated that quickly. I was using a SB5101 for the past ten years or so and didn't really notice anything too terrible.
It wasn't until I saw this modem on sale at Costco a few weeks back that I decided to consider switching modems.
SB5101 was DOCSIS2, this modem is DOCSIS3.
Should last you a while.
The higher end models just have routers built in and stuff (from what I remember)...I feel that's unnecessary. I would rather spend the money on a nice modem such as this one and a nice router.
If you're going to go Docsis 3.0, you should consider upgrading your internet speed. I know for those that use Cox and have the higher tier internet package I've heard of really fast speeds when connecting to Usenet servers.
