yes, he did get it used. I am also considering this route since I think they added tax on top of the services tax (correct me if I am wrong) my bill is a mess. I just have that feeling that 2 years down the road I may upgrade to Turbo or TW may just stop supporting these modems.  Activating the modem over the phone wasn't bad, it was the wait to return the modem at the service center that was bad. O well, hate being nickel and dimed by a monopoly - especially after they raise rates on us like we have viable options. "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift. Wow. Cable companies will try any gimmick to get more subscribers. Except for charging reasonable rates for entertainment that people really want, of course.

You may lower your monthly rate by purchasing your own modem and/or router. For SoCal customers the Best Buy TWC reps are doing free installation and activations as well

What if you already have TWC internet and cable only, but not on a contract, can I sign up on this deal? Do I need to cancel and sign up on this deal? Or it has to be a different person that needs to sign up since my name is on the current TWC account.
