Ok, so I’ve had this thing for a while now and thought I share my thoughts with you guys if anyone’s interested. Photos below.

Installation:
When I first received this I was a bit turned off by the horribly written instructions, however the pictures on the box, and if you’re the handy type, you’ll probably be able to install this without any help. As pictured, I installed my stand in the passenger side seat, using the closest bolt to me that connects the seat to the car. It comes with 3 different ways of how you want to mount your stand: direct, level, and I’m not sure about the last one but it looks like a 90-degree mount. Perhaps the 90-degree set up is for certain cars where the bolt is angled in a different direction. I decided to try the level bracket. It took me maybe less than 30 minutes or so to install the whole thing. I didn’t really need many tools, just my socket wrench set.

Test drive:
I went with the level bracket and drove around with my netbook and It was a bit wobbly and concerned me a bit at first, but after a while of driving around doing errands and traveling to work, my tablet didn’t move one bit. I later tried the direct mounting and that seemed to help a bit with the wobbliness.

Design and Construction:
The whole construction of the stand feels pretty sturdy. The plastic is very tough and thick and the metal used for the arms has a good weight to it. Every part that bends on the arm can be locked in place so there won’t be any accidental slipping or movement. There are gears with “teeth” that lock up and will hold in place. The part where the tablet or laptop will sit have holes so air can circulate and keep your device cool.

Overall:
Great construction and design and I am pretty impressed with the quality of this product even though I felt a bit skeptical with the instructions. But after testing out the product, this really does seem to hold up and held my netbook in place during my drive. It is advertised for iPads, but you can use any of your devices that fit the stand. It is however a bit big and cumbersome but I feel I can trust using this than something with a suction cup for a tablet. I don’t think I’ll be using this at all for short trips but I’ve been using this for working in my car while I wait for class sometimes and it works great for that.
