Got in snail mail saying

"Earn 200 bonus points with every purchase outside our brands" November 1 to December 31, 2012.

Seems like there was one exact same deal last year.

Some questions for experienced veterans:
1. What's the maximum point earned for last promotion? In the previous thread I saw 400,000 points!
2. Will there be any risk that my BR account being closed because I am too greedy?
3. What's the minimum transaction amount in order to get the reward? Does Amazon $0.15 gift card count?
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Notes regarding the deal:

* The offer is targeted. If you did not get a notice, you cannot participate.

* The card itself locks after > 20 transactions a day. You then have to call in to unlock. I have been successful this year with exactly 20 transactions a day. A "day" is a rolling 24 hour period so if you do one transaction at say 9am in one given timezone you can do another 19 transaction until 8:59am the next day same time zone and then your counter resets to 20

* There is no minimum transaction size. Transactions of $0.01 qualify as a purchase.

* Transaction must *post* to your account by 12/31/2012, suggesting a period of probably at best 60 days to run. 60 days x 20 transactions x 200 bonus points = 240,000 points or $2,400 in Banana Republic certificates

* Certificates can be used at all BR brands (BR, Gap, Old Navy, Athleta etc)

* Certificates are sent with a maximum of $250 per month (five $50 certificates). Excess over this amount was eventually sent out over the following months.

Suggestions on sites to take advantage of the deal:

* Amazon.com - Your Amazon account locks out after 10 transactions the 1st time. The 2nd time, it will lock after 5 transactions. The only way to reactivate your account it to call an Amazon CSR and speak to an Account Specialist. Reactivation can take over 24 hours.

* Dish Network - Unlimited bill payments allowed (minimum payment $0.01)

* Verizon - Unlimited bill payments allowed (minimum payment $1.00)

* Sprint - Unlimited bill payments allowed (minimum payment $1.00)

* Metro PCS - Maximum of 3 bill payments allowed through their payment company (Bill Matrix)

I can answer #3 quickly: even $0.01 works as a qualifying purchase Smilie

The last promo I did (Sept-Oct), was "500 points per purchase outside our brands" but they capped it at 2000 points (in the fine print.)

Here's what I got today: "5x points per $ spent outside our brands" (instead of the usual 1x). Are these promos targeted?

I think these are targeted.

Wife got the mentioned offer, and I got the same offer as you.

Don't see any cap in the fine print this time though.

I got the same offer and had the same thoughts. There is no upper limit listed. I have a $250 bill to pay with local county and they take online payments as low as $1 so that is 250 transactions off the bat Wink

I got a card in the mail last month for 1k points with 4 purchases. Made 4x very small purchases and received points as of statement close. Pretty nice.

Does anyone who did this last year know whether it was eventually capped? Reading last year's thread it seems the most they could send per month was $250 worth of certificates. So did people who went big keep getting $250 certificates every month? Did anyone get their account shut down for over doing it? I am thinking this one will be easy enough to scale into a whole new wardrobe Smilie

I was able to get multiple months of $250 certificates, so no limit that I know of... They did, however, cap how many daily purchases you could make with your BR card, across all transactions. I think it was 20 or 25

very helpful thank you and repped

yes reading the last thread sounds like 20 per day. so 20 x 60 days x $2 value per transaction = $2,400 in BR certificates

i am ranking this as deal of the year for me

sorry one further question. there is some suggestion on fatwallet though i don't see it myself that transactions need to be at least $1. can you confirm that sub $1 transactions worked?

i am thinking of using $0.15 amazon gift certs to fill up the 20 per day outside of any i can't easily manufacture (will throw them some bones with the odd coffee here and there)

Sounds good. I didn't bother reading the postcards they sent me last year.

Going to buy 20x$.15 or $1 (?) Amazon gift cards and set it from Nov 1- Dec 31. Hopefully setting the quantity at Amazon to 20 will charge 20 times and not once. Anyone know?

So, do you have to receive the offer to be able to take advantage, or can anyone start earning the bonus?

Just confirmed that 20 transactions locks it up. Guess I'll be calling and getting it unlocked.

On another note, I also confirmed that Time Warner Cable accepts payments $1 at a time woot
