Cameta is an awesome store. They're authorized, and definitely on the up and up. They learned about a year or two ago that their niche, instead of trying to compete head-on with the monoliths that are B&H and Adorama, they can make deals with companies for overstock. They first did this with Olympus, which had been horribly mismanaged and had tons of new old stock product lying around, but then spread to other manufacturers. Any thread here for the E-PL1 and E-PL2 in the last year, if it has more than 2 thumbs up, is likely Cameta.

Besides, NikonRumors is like one of those carnival gypsies, they are so vague and inaccurate as to never be wrong. By the time that they're reporting the truth, it's because they convinced someone to break their non-disclousre agreement, and you're only getting information nominally before the actual press event. It doesn't take a mindreader to realize that Nikon's DX cameras are the next to be updated. Full frame just received an overhaul, Coolpix did not long ago, and the Nikon V2 and J2 just came out. That makes the D7000, D5100, and especially the D300s the oldest cameras in the Nikon lineup, with the recent D3200 partially overshadowing its larger brothers, so duh they're going to be replaced soon.

Oh wow. If I didn't already have one, I'd get this. What a low price for such a good camera.

I bought a used D90 a few weeks ago and, after seeing how nice the top LCD is, I'm not sure if I'd want to go back to the menus like I had with my D40. Now if I can time selling it right before the D7100 is announced...

You know what they say about opinions.....but I have to say the Nikon is a better camera (especially at this price!). If it's your first DSLR, it can be more intimidating, because to me Nikon allows people to tinker with settings more than Canon does. If you want to really wring alot of cool stuff out of your images, I think it's easier to do that with a Nikon. If you want a good side-by-side review, there's one here:

For an amateur shooter, how much better is the D5100 vs. the D3100? I have the 18-55 lens and a 35MM F/1.8 already for my D3100.

im not even an amatuer im a total noob but this price seems pretty good considering id pay 200+ for a PS. how usable is the lense included in the kit? cuz obviously i wont be investing in the lenses till i am comfortable enough with these dslrs
