Need one for a basic custom built PC that desperately needs a drive.
My primary gaming rig doesn't have an SSD but I would like to get one. But how difficult is the upgrade process? I hear it's better to just install fresh without any kind of restore, but I am definitely concerned about losing some data. All of my media is stored on 2 hdds (1 drive has 3 partitions and one of the paritions currently has windows 7 on it but I imagine the other 2 partitions would be unaffected) |

any thoughts on hybrid drives: e.g. Seagate hybrid drives?
These have 32GB of SSD cache + HDD. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Pro...682214859 |

They are nothing compared to an actual SSD. They are an improvement on tasks that you repeat regularly, but are limited to how much data they can speed up. Take the plunge, even if you can only afford a 64gig to put your operating system on, you won't regret it. |

I'm confused on SSD prices so I'm hoping someone can clear some information up for me
What's the normal price? and what are the "slickdeals" for various types 256 vs 512gb? is the added price worth doubling the data what's the difference when loading up the OS, games, etc? I just recently went from a 5400rpm to 7200rpm HDD and the difference is negligible for the OS but pretty big for games |
