For $100, I'm in for 1.. I needed a new set of speakers anyway for my gameroom.

You can keep going up in $50 to $100 increments and you'll consistently get better sound the more expensive you get. The point here is that you get a 5.1 system for $100 where as the one you linked to, although better in quality, is more expensive and lacks a sub.

The monoprice set is probably close to this (very well could be better) when it comes to the sound quality, but I'll bet it's much easier to resell this on craigslist if/when you decide to upgrade.

how would this compare to a logitech z-2200 if i were to use this as my computer speakers? i know that one is surround and one is not.

would like buy it but need to buy a receiver first lol..

Calling it a "system" is very misleading. IT'S JUST SPEAKERS. There is no receiver or amplifier.

Last year this system was priced at $550.00 and it looks like they were being sold by circuit city, probably as an upsell for a Sony Bravia HDTV.

Blahhhhh, was hoping I had found a good deal on a home theater system with tower speakers. But i'd have to fork out more for a receiver. Ugh. Been looking for a system with towers under $150 for a while now

You would still need a receiver.

I picked up these last Christmas at Best Buy for $150...Paired with my Sony Reciever they are decent. I would say they are worth the $100, I found them to sound a little muddy but I changed my eq settings and was able to them to sound good enought for me. I am planning to get some nicer floor standing front speakers and to replace the 2 with this set up and use these for 7.1 Oh the sub is also decent. This isn't an amazing high end speaker system but I think you'd be hard pressed to find a set up comparible in price.

It's odd that this rebate form says that the rebate submission only requires the signed rebate form and a copy of the invoice, but not the UPC barcode. Just an observation.
