Kindle Paperwhite available in Staples BM... YMMV

I was able to pick one up today at my local staples and they even accepted a 20% off coupon printed from a previous thread. Total came to $101.xx including tax. Thanks!

You can use on anything in the store, the 3rd party items like postage stamps, giftcards, phone cards, tech services, printing and that's it. Just think of things that they might lose money big time, the ones that no one really subsidizes. It's what I usually go by, when think of where to burn my rewards.

FWIW I have the Paperwhite 3G and the Keyboard 3G, for me the battery is about the same with the 3G/wifi turned off. The Paperwhite may last a tinge longer but not much, I find I have to plug it in about once a week, which was the same with the Keyboard, perhaps even less. The contrast is MUCH better on the Keyboard and I liked having the buttons. I'm still not 100% in love with the Paperwhite. I use it but I miss the Keyboard and may go back to it. The blacks were MUCH darker and the refresh was better - you see the shadows of the page before on the Paperwhite which annoys the crap out of me. Plus there's the weird LED issue with being able to see the "beams" on the bottom and creates weird bold/light areas in the text.

It's a nice Kindle if you don't have one but I'm not sure I can cheer it like I do the Keyboard. I also like the more storage + audio on the Keyboard.

Nice if you can pick it up for $100 ish at Staples though! Just definitely try and see a demo before jumping in!

thanks for the info. never thought it could be used on stamps. i always have $40 credit from ink recycling on two accounts every month. usually use it for toilet paper and paper towels because you cant really ever have enough of that.

thanks for the info. i have heard mixed reviews like this about the paperwhite. i already have a kindle fire HD, i was thinking about getting the regular kindle for $70 - $40 from rewards next month. it sounds like the paperwhite needs a version 2 to work out the kinks.

Wait, hold on a sec, my bad. In my initial post, I omitted the word EXCLUDING. I meant that it cannot be used on stamps and 3rd party vendor products, and such. OOPS.

i'm going to return or resell at cost mine if anyone local to DFW wants it. (don't want to drive far though) . I also got a kindle fire 2nd gen and I think I will use that one more (can only keep one)

Did it scan, or did they have to override it? My stores will take anything as long as it scans.

I know you posted this a while ago, but since someone else bumped this thread up, I didn't want people getting confused and rushing to Fry's.

Fry's does not currently sell Kindle e-readers.

So I'm not sure what you saw at Fry's, but it definitely wasn't the Paperwhite.
