Thermal paste is different than ATX cases, this way people who are interested in thermal paste will see it. I have posted deals that then repeated like 3 days later and they considered it a non-repost. Atachi isn't the only one who knows the prediction loophole via rebate sites (there are several such sites), by the way, many of us know about it but are more discreet about pre-posting non-live deals. If he was so confident about it he could have posted it. Fact was, nobody was confident about it, not even me. I only posted it when it went live on the site. Of all the things to get hung up on, honestly, don't you have anything better to do with your time? Chill out. I hope lots of people get in on free thermal paste thanks to this alert.

the SD forum can easily handle 3 threads instead of just 1, and at some point it just becomes too much information for 1 thread + it completely messes up deal alerts if FAR items aren't even listed in the thread title some exceptions might be FAReward promotions, or a merchant selling multiple software titles FAR |

Yes, Atachi may not be the only one who knows how to get through to view rebates before they update... however, he clearly posted that first... in that thread. Considering you were clearly active in that thread, since I saw you posting things to the Wiki, all I'm saying is it would have been nice to include a thanks to him for sharing it originally. I would be saying the same thing if it was you or him who first posted in that thread about it. I agree thermal paste is a little different than ATX cases, and I hope your thread triggers people interested in it as well. Are we cool?

Better than AS5? What are you basing that on?

![]() The ATX thread already has an insanely long title, so I guess this might trigger some other people's alerts. |

After I was puzzled at Wookie's pre-live rebate thread the other night, I decided to look into how he did it. (Edit: I'm gonna delete this explanatory part... too many people know already, we don't need more.) I don't feel comfortable publicly posting non-live deals, but if the mods would like to credit this thread to Atachi I'm okay with that since he was first to publicly talk about it. I wonder if we're going to start seeing a lot of jousting to post not-yet-live deals and if that hurts more than it helps the average SDer. I would hate to see Selma start automating the process!

Separate is probably better in this case.
![]() That's cool about the Cooler Master rebates. Were they mostly case fans or did you see notebook coolers, cases, and stuff like that? There's usually a way to figure out most rebate systems... which in turn helps you to predict deals. The hard part is keeping track of when they go live and pricing. |

Then again, the MX-2 is easier to apply. If you don't properly apply and cure ("break-in") AS5, then it'll perform just about or worse than MX-2. AS5 also needs to be replaced more frequently than MX-2 (yearly I believe) and is just so highly conductive (electrical), which might turn off some people. Can't beat free, will definitely use these for the family PC and older computers. For my gaming/high-end computer, I prefer to go with Tuniq TX-4. |
