from my experience, the MX-2 is better than the AS5. The temps are lower but I believe its probably to better application and the AS5 was very viscous. The MX-2 was more had a more liquid flow and wetting action.

The mwave deals on this are far better. For one thing the price of this is jacked up, and it has a stupid rebate. Newegg is also not the same company it used to be.

The paperless submission only requires scans and photos. You get to keep all the documents in case it falls though, you still have the UPC for proof.

I agree with the TX-4...except that I picked up a bunch of AS5 on sale for $2.99 a tube last year. So now I use an $11 25 gram tube of AS Ceramique for everyone else (except for 1 friend that might OC) and AS5 for myself.

Does AS5 ever go bad? I am about to put a new heatsink on my i7, but my tube of AS5 is from almost 10 years ago.

I prefer the 1.5g for $1 no rebate mwave deal over this deal, especially it will take about 2~3 months to get the rebate back. Also, this item was usually $8 at newegg, and now they jacked up the price to $11 with $11 rebate. Wish they didn't change the price, and I would have been sold. Not dissing the deal, but I think it could have been better.

I did the same thing, I have a large tube from 2005 that I have been using back and forth. Recently, I noticed that it has become harder to apply the AS5 (It is being a thick liquid) and it is not longer sticking on the surface. (think of it as trying to spread semi-wet sand) Anyways, I threw that tube away and bought AC MX-2. The TIM oozed out smoothly, spread evenly. Temps immediately dropped about 10C. The AS5 is good stuff but I question their advertised life.

On a side note, each time i unmount the heatsink, the AS5 felt dry and somewhat crusty, it was hard to wipe off. The MX-2 wiped off like it was water. I am a fan of AC now.
