I set up the Zyxel 500 Mbps version in a house and it worked great. At this stage of the networking game, unless you have an ultra high speed connection with your ISP, the 200 Mbps should be more than adequate to handle high-speed bandwidth.
With any powerline adapter, you could have an issue if the two plugs aren't on the same circuit (rare but it happens). Otherwise, they're pretty reliable and ridiculously easy to set up.
I have the PLA4225KIT 500Mbps starter kit that has a 4 port switch. I've used it to connect two Win7 media pc's and a HDHomerun Prime. They were super easy to set up and it has server me great for the past 6 months...I've never had to reset them. Love 'em! Works so much better than when I was trying to do HDTV across a wireless G signal.
Would these 200Mbps boxes be compatible and connect up to my existing powerline network so I can add a couple more rooms in the house?
I set up some of these. Plug and play. And in my experience really good to have a pass through outlet on the device. Otherwise not only do they take up a plug but the bigger form factors will plug the other outlet and/or make it difficult to plug in ac adaptors or flat angled power connectors etc.
