damn it, what a damn good camera.
i kind of want to hold out for a deal on the K-30 though. same sensor, slightly improved focus system, ability to accept AA batteries w/ adapter (currently use eneloops on my k-x), and focus peaking in live view for manual lenses. But the k-5 is a legend. what to do....

I shoot a Pentax K10D. Let me just chime in for anyone who isn't already a DSLR owner -- if you aren't yet invested in Pentax lenses, consider what lenses you're going to want to get before you dive in. There are constantly deals for lenses for Canon and Nikon DSLR's -- and there is an endless supply of used equipment for them -- but you're not going to find it nearly as easy for Pentax cameras. I still bought mine because I got a killer deal and didn't mind buying some older, manual-focus glass......but if you're going to be the type who wants to get a lens or two to go with it, consider how much those will cost you.

I had the K-5, but unfortunately had to return it because it will not auto focus in low light conditions.

Make sure you check out the prices of weathersealed lenses. A weathersealed body isn't unless you use weathersealed lenses too. They aren't cheap.

Actually, if you don't care about weathersealing, you can get PK mount AF lenses for cheap used. Look for Pentax-F. They were the first AF Pentax lenses. For some reason they get no love compared to the Pentax-FA lenses even though they are basically the same lens.
