Discover is a great card if you just use it when they pay you the bonus. They have too many loopholes for day to day purchases such as the SuperStore and Warehouse Club cash back that never does reach 1%. I just use them on Shop Discover and the quarterly bonues categories and I still get a lot back from them. Last edited by bchill; 11-01-2012 at 04:38 PM.. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

wasn't there a $400 cashback one? I think there was when I tried the build-a-card couple of months ago...

For the build-a-Card: 1. Excellent Credit. 2. I'm not sure. 3. See All Offers Select either Cashback card. Raise "Welcome Bonus" Scale to Highest. You'll see the $200 offer. |

Just be aware that it's the merchant, not Discover, that handles the cash back and they generally know whether you're following the rules or not.... so you gotta follow them or you won't get your cash back. For example, you get 5% from Best Buy, but if you use your BB Rewards card that's another "promotion or offer" and it invalidates your Discover cash back. Another one I found out the hard way is Dell's 5% cash back - Dell associates your email address with a Home *or* Small Business account, but not both. If you click through the shopdiscover Home 5% link, for example, and purchase from Dell Home, but then use an email associated with Dell Small Business, you get no cash back. I got screwed out of like $800 cashback that way.
