this is useless, photoshop and all graphics apps struggle to run on these measly specs..
Probably good for high school kids with their homeworks. and you've to wait till nov 23rd to get this??? seriously?? I saw better deal at lenovo outlet, sold in an hour, core i3 for 280 or something with dedicated Nvidia GPU,. |

Would this be good for Photoshop? Not high level Photoshop, but basic. The rest would be MS Office and browsing which I know its good for. Also I would upgrade the ram to maybe a total of 8GB (hopefully its just one 4GB stick inside) and possibly upgrade to a SSD and turn the 500GB into an external drive. Also would you suggest getting Dell's extended warranty, or maybe look for a Squaretrade deal? Thanks!

I was using photoshop just fine 8 years ago when I was still in school, on my personal laptop. This was when people were content with the speed at which a computer handled tasks because we actually had patience.
I think a laptop made 8 years after that will handle it just fine - people like to over-exaggerate how crappy a deal or a laptop/PC is because theirs is better, or they know you can find a better one (but you'll have to pay more) I use to do HD video editing(purely a hobby) on a lackluster pc that only had integrated graphics. The only time it slowed me down noticeably was to render a video after I was all finished - the only time you're going to struggle in photoshop is doing ridiculously demanding work or trying to do things in batch (like resize 100 pictures at once, or working with raw files) Gonna' let my father know about this ; will make a great laptop to keep at our shop and handle all the office work. |

I just purchased this laptop for $340 about two months ago.... This i3 machine runs just fine.
And BTW the comment that photoshop running like crap on this device... is a crap statement. That poster DOES NOT own this laptop if that make statements like that. Last edited by Sorandkairi; 11-06-2012 at 12:12 PM.. |

Looks like Sam's Club is going to have the HP Pavilion 14" Notebook w/ Intel Core i5, 6GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Windows 8 (14-b017cl) for $399.00 on Black Friday (Nov 23)
Do you think the extra $100 is worth it for Win8, and i5 and more RAM? How are HPs vs DELLs? http://slickdeals.net/blackfriday...8-14b017cl |

Just my $.02 |
