This was going to be my 7 years old dauther christmas present.
So I waited almost 1 month, I was online for 20 minutes just to place the order. And now I got the same email as you guys. This is just BS with double capital, double bold !!! Why will my dauther need a bigger laptop? Why will anyone will want windows 8 specially if you dont have a touch screen? Same CPU, Memory and Hard Drive Bulkier, heavier, lest run time. Thanks Dell for this great deal !!! |

In the same boat with the "alternative, equally exciting deal". The replacement laptop simply sucks. The 14z was cute while 15z is simply their bottom of the line.
I haven't spent 75 online trying to get this order go through only to get this piece of crap instead. There is no point getting bigger screen and 1.1 extra pounds if you don't need one. Dell seems to have been having problems moving Win 8 hardware - hence it's forced down your throat. I will be fighting this one over. Last edited by sleepybubba; 11-26-2012 at 01:14 PM.. |

Dell screwed up big time. First of all, it took 2 hours to order it because the page kept loading and giving errors.
Then, got an email from Dell after two days that they oversold and they will replace it with Inspiron 15 (heavy one). Now, they are saying it is delayed by 15 days. |

Well, despite getting the second order confirmation on Monday morning, this afternoon I got the updated order for the 15. Jerks. So I called, spent over an hour on the phone with sales resolution and supervisor. They are well trained - do nothing other than drag their feet. They would not consider substituting the 14z ultrabook (similar specs/size/performance to original deal), would not consider providing a refurbed 14z, would not consider even if I accepted Windows 7 "downgrade" (I say that tongue in cheek) or delayed delivery, or even my final compromise offer of accepting the 15 with Microsoft Office installed (which they've got very good sales margins on compared to, say, a hardware upgrade).
Total lying bait and switch. |

If all I did was read my emails, then I am still getting the 14z but it has been delayed twice and is now expected to arrive before 12/13.
But when I went to dell.com and signed in, it says that my original order for the 14z was cancelled on 11/26. Then a new order was placed (by Dell, not me) for the 15. I was not informed in any way that the 14z was switched for the 15. Very disappointed. Look on eBay, the 14z's are getting about $475, while the 15's are getting $400. The consumer in a free market (like on eBay) will give you an honest price they will pay for something. The consumer is saying that I am losing $75 on this switch. I am trying to cancel the order. I better not get hit with a cancellation fee. I have already opened a case with the Better Business Bureau. And used this address: Dell Computer Corporation One Dell Way Round Rock, Texas 78682, which is their headquarters. I would instruct everyone to take the time and do so. |

Dell sent my girlfriend the 15 without consent to switch computers.
She sent her order documents, a copy of all corresponding, a pending BBB complaint, and a copy of the FTC laws that had been broken to her bank. Bank refunded her for 100% of the purchase. Doesn't get much slicker than a free laptop. Just need to get a copy of Windows 7 now. |
