Can someone confirm this deal? I'm reading all over the internet that the $299 laptop is the 14" inspiron ultrabook with the i3 processor. But in this thread people are saying that its a 15.6" with an AMD processor?
Am I reading it wrong? |

We had early access to what I would guess is the deal advertised in this thread. I tried getting it online but couldn't get the deal so I called a rep to figure out what was going on. The rep said that the 299 deal is for a Inspiron 15 (15.6" led screen) BUT has a AMD 1.6 GHz dual-core and NOT the intel 2nd gen i3. The ad we got through email advertising the Inspiron 15 for 299 led to the Inspiron 15 with the intel chipset even though that wasn't the one for 299. I'm not sure what the BF deal will be but the early access one was pretty shady since it advertised the intel but was actually for the AMD. The rep was even shady on the phone because he tried to process the order without giving me the specs until I asked him. When I asked him what the specs were he breezed through the chipset and only said "an AMD processor" until I pressed him for the specifics. It felt like he was trying to sneak it by and that Dell is maybe trying to unload old machines. At any rate, I don't know what dealwill come up on black friday itself, but assuming our early access was for the same deals that will come up on black friday, it's a bad sign. The Inspiron 15 with a 2.3 dual core 2nd gen intel i3 seems pretty decent, though. (I think it's this: http://slickdeals.net/f/5419624-D...HDD-379-99) I picked one up for 372.39 before tax. Hope this helps.

Thanks I appreciate it. I'm in the market for a laptop and I'm just having a hard time deciding. I have a $192 Sony gift card and I want something light/thin. I can get a Sony T series for around $400 out of pocket after the gift card. I really like this machine. But if I can get something similar for around $300-$400 and then use my gift card for something else at sony that would be cool obviously. Although I don't NEED anything else at the moment. |

Man that would be sweet to use the GC. I don't know what the weight on the Inspiron is, but it doesn't look very light/thin. Have you checked the black friday laptop deal post? It's here if you haven't. http://slickdeals.net/f/5438224-B...ack-Friday Good discussion and lots of listed deals in there. Good luck and happy hunting!

Looking for Dell Inspiron 14z? Dell Inspiron 14z is no longer available. Shop the next best thing - our latest range of Everyday Laptops currently available. So the regular Inspiron 14z model is discontinued. Maybe they're liquidating their leftover stock on Black Friday. I don't know, just guessing. The Inspiron 14z Ultrabook goes for $600 now. I can't imagine they'll discount it 50% for Black Friday. |

It pretty much HAS to be the old model. The new model is $599 and only comes with Windows 8. I don't think it ever came with Windows 7 which is what the deal is. Plus the new one has the 3rd gen intel processor while this one has the old 2nd gen. I believe the deal is for whatever left over stock they have of the old Inspiron. |

Here's engadget's review of the old model: http://www.engadget.com/2011/11/0...4z-review/ Take a look at the gallery of pics and compare them to the one shown in the ad. It's definitely the 2011 model that'll be on sale on Black Friday. Last edited by yshah21; 11-17-2012 at 07:37 AM.. |

So what is going on with this deal? Is it ons described on BF? Or is the i3 version gone or not the deal?
Wish we could get a confirm. If it is I'll definitely try and get one. I just need a sturdy laptop with good battery life. Willing to spend $300ish and this looks perfect for what I need. |
