Good deal OP. I think I'll have to jump on this right now to start upgrading my HTPC.

Just to point out the obvious the failure rate is probably considerably less than 24% since folks are many times more likely to post a negative review rather than a positive one. Not saying the failure rate is great, just that is it is probably nothing like 24%. Sadly most larger drives seem to have pretty poor reviews these days one is left choosing one's poison it seems.

This is actually a very intelligent post. I've bought 10's of thousands of dollars worth of parts from Newegg over the years....

...I think I've only reviewed like 3 things...LOL

Also, this is NOT a good deal for these drives...IF you do like I do.

I've found that grabbing clearance/great deals on 1-2TB external drives, then pulling them from their enclosures...can save a ton of money..LOL

Thanks, was looking to add 2 more 3TB drives to the storage pool. Wanted to go with the new Red drives but the rest of the WHS already has Greens in it anyways.

I preordered the popcorn hour A-400 a couple of days ago (which allows for an internal SATA drive as an upgrade) and was gonna pull the trigger on the 3TB 7200rpm Seagate version, since amazon warehouse deals has it for $110, until one of the gurus in the popcorn hour forums mentioned since the new A-400 is passive cooling, it was advisable to use the green 5400 rpm version instead for temperature reasons, (which amazon has for $140. And I thought: "F@ck my luck. For once I manage to find the version with the faster speeds $30 cheaper (albeit used), and It's the one time I'm supposed to buy the 5400rpm version". So I've been searching for a deal on the 5400rpm 3TB drive for a few days now, and just when I though all hope was lost and was getting ready to bite at amazon for $140, comes OP to the rescue with this deal. 20 bucks in my pocket is a pre....typree......typrettygood way to start my Friday.
