I just ordered this memory this morning. Also got the email that my payment was charged. Should have it by Tuesday. I've used ADATA memory before without any problems, hopefully it plays nicely with my laptop.
How does this compared to G. Skill 2x8 GB for $50 after a $20 off code?
Decent reviews for G.SKILL 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Laptop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-16GBSQ. Cas Latency 9, 1.5V.
I'm leaning toward A-data because of PC12800, how about latency 11 vs 9?
I went with the A-data too because it was faster and hopefully my eventual new laptop can use this too.
I am assuming that even though this is faster memory, on my early 2011 13" Macbook Pro laptop, it can downclock to the DDR3 PC1333 speeds?
In for one for my new T430. Doubled it from the 4GB it came with to 8GB as soon as I got it, and now doubling it again to 16GB a week later. Let's see how windows 8 performs now. Also, 2% cashback from the usual cashback sites makes the deal even slicker.
Will this work for an ASUS k55A ? Crucial/ASUS say it supports only 8GB.
I bet it will take 16gb (2x8gb).
I have three Asus K53E (similar to K55A). According to Asus and all well-known memory makers (Crucial, Kingston, etc.), K53E can only take a maximum of 8GB (2x4gb). But all smaller memory vendors say K53E can handle 16gb. All three of my K53E have 2x8gb in them.
I also read a few posts which state that the newest notebooks (Intel 2nd gen i3, i5 and i7 and after) can take 8gb SO-DIMM.
As far as Asus goes, I can personally vouch that K53E (i5-2450m) and X54C (i3-2350m) can take 2x8gb for a total of 16gb regardless of what the specs say. A combination of 16gb and an SSD makes those notebooks run pretty fast.
I do not have a K55A. Nor had I read any posts that directly state that K55A can handle 2x8gb. But I bet it will take 16gb.
