ok guys, i got screwed over. I went into best buy yesterday and try to get them to price match this deal, the guy verified the price and he said that I needed to speak to the GM regarding this deal. So, it was a complete mess, i called them a whole number of times and they said they will speak to the GM and get back to me. Didnt happen. Then i went into the store, one of the employees was helping trying to find out where the GM was and what he had said and all that stuff. Then they said he was out for lunch. The employee talking to me was really nice and called the GM on his cell phone and spoke to him. The GM said to go ahead and give me the price match. Then the employee starts ringing it up in the register and he needs the store manager or someone to come and to the override the system. The manager comes and says ok and then says wait let me re confirm with the GM. He comes back and says no sorry we cant do it for that price. So basically the guy was a complete $%@#er, he convinced the GM and refused to give me the deal. Horrible experience. any ideas? what would you do?
hi guys, I went to my local best buy and they verified the price and everything and they said that there was no one in the store that could authorize such a transaction with such a big price drop. He said to come back today and speak to the GM of the store. Any help on what to do or what to say?
That sucks to hear about your experience. I had the exact same issue when I tried to price match a TV Frys had on sale with one in stock at Sears. Douchebag manger said they couldn't PM because they'd loose too much money (as he held a binder that said PM Guarantee printed on it). It really just depends on the people you get. Keeping calm is your best tool. Have them repeat over and over why they can't do it. Have them show you their Policy so you can point out why they are wrong. If all else fails pull out a phone or recorder and start documenting the conversation. That might just change the tone of the manager because he knows someone that's above him will disagree with his reasoning. I'd like to believe the corporate office has the customers back. Just my two cents. Take it for what it's worth. Good luck in your PM struggle.
When looked LG 7600 in frys next to samsung and sony, hardly any shocking difference I can notice. But here are there points why I ended bought two of the LM7600:
1. The thin bezel, it matters more than you would think. I used to have a 50" sony and this time I started by going to 47" LG thinking the 50" TV was too big. But instead, the 55" LG is much smaller than my old 50".
2. Passive 3D, it's amazing, with all the cheap 3D glasses (you can find $25 for 6 pairs on ebay), I honestly don't understand why active 3D matters.
4. Built-in plex media player and the best support of video format (quoted someone on Amazon after tested sony, panasonic, samsung etc.).
I have a hunch LG is behind Plex development which used to be open source but closed after XBMC splitted. If they do it right, this is where htpc should have been, you can forget about apple tv, google tv, rohu, etc.
Although most of the LG "Smart TV" stuff are craps but this one plex made it worth the money. Samsung is also on plex support list (the only other TV manufacture), but personally I think samsung is overated. It's time to give their other korean brother a try.
In terms of picture quality you must have looked at the lg tv straight on the 7600 has the worst viewing angles compared to equivalent Sony and Samsung models.
Sony cosmetically has look outdated but there higher end hx750 model has the better viewing angles then the lg. Go into a best buy and you will know what I'm talking about. But of course the lg has a lower refresh rate also
Picked on up at Fry's in Anaheim, CA on Monday. I really like the tv. I don't understand what some people are talking about, the viewing angle is great, colors are great, blacks are good, and there is just some minor backlight bleeding on the top edge. Definitely worth the $899. Just be sure to go through the picture wizard first. Also, I turned off the eco mode and turned the backlight up a bit. After some tweaking it looks great. Passive 3D impressed me a lot too. It looks great, only some minor tearing on fast scenes.
Just scored one with a PM @ Best Buy in Mission Viejo, $889 + Tax. They were a bit reluctant at first, they said they needed an ad with the model in it. I went up to customer service and they said they could call Fry's and PM over the phone.
Bought this and am in serious doubt that any Black Friday deal will beat it but if it does, I have 30 days to return it. Considering getting a SquareTrade on it as well after my 40% off coupon comes in. The 1 year of Netflix is a nice addition as well.
