Denon 1712 AVR $149 new at Best Buy B&M (YMMV)

OP you fricken rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I already bought the AVR1712 online for $200, but went to the store and told them to price adjust it down to $150. Walked out with a SICK DEAL!!! Thanks man, you are awesome.

just picked one up from the baldwin store in ny. Bb garden city ny wouldn't price match the attached receipt and the manager made all sorts of excuses and the associate with him even claimed it was fake lol. got on he phone with customer service and received different reasoning for not doing it. decided to try my luck at a different store and was in and out in 15 mins. I think they had one more left there when i went if anyone wants my receipt lemme know and ill post it or pm u. oh and to the HS dropout of a manager who refused to match it for me, F U.

My bestbuy didn't have this Denon, but I was able to pickup the Marantz NR1402 for 149.99 and the 4 Yr protection plan on it was $25, so got that too. Is the protection plan worth it (since this was open box) or should I return it?

The Denon 1712 AVR is currently being cleared from inventory to make room for all XX13 models. Best Buy is having a clearance of them NEW unopened for $199, from MSRP of $399. However, since it's on clearance and they pretty much will try to get rid of every one of these as soon as possible, you can pretty much ask the nice people at Magnolia to bring the price down lower. This is where it's YMMV, since it depends who you talk to and how charming/persuasive you are, you can pretty much ask them to lower the price until the computer won't let them go any further. I learned this fact when shopping for the Pioneer Andrew Jones set a few months back, that there's particular items they will get rid of at any price, provided that it is above the computer's hard limit of how low you can get. Personally, they offered $149 to me which I thought was a great price and didn't bother to bargain lower.

This receiver is probably the best performance over price ratio you get from Denon. It has the Audyssey XT speaker calibration, which is very highly regarded at the AVS Forums [avsforum.com], and can only be found in their 2112 or above models since it skips 1912. It has 90w per channel for 7.1, which should be a good upgrade from their 1312 to 1612 lines, and the same amp is used in their 1912 and 2112 models. I bought 1 out of 2 left in stock at the Dedham location at Boston, MA. Other locations have varying stocks of course.
