It's saddening to see the vocal right brand everything that is more liberal than they are as "socialist", when in reality it is moderate... |

The best magazine bar none. Besides a few editorials under the "leaders" section of the magazine, everything else in the magazine is always backed up with hard facts and the numbers always add up unlike many politicians' math. I am also a big fan of Business Week whose content has gotten much better since Bloomberg took over.
Economist and BW are probably the only 2 magazines that actually offer tablet and online access at no extra charge. Good luck getting that included in the price with other magazines. For $30 (ebay) I am in for a renewal even though my current sub doesn't end until 04-14. |

If you're a mainstream economist you'll probably like it. If you like being right all the time you'll give it a pass except for some light reading for amusement.

I consider the Economist brainy and difficult to finish before the next one comes. Its definitely one of the better mags if you think. Byte Me!

Now, to reply. Lawl, The Economist is quite a joke indeed. Yes, they're most certainly liberal, but even more important is that they have historically allowed this obvious slant to affect their overall judgments and analysis of the economy, which is, at least as far as I can tell, the ultimate foundation of their publication. Thomas Sowell and other laissez-faire master economists have spanked them time and time again for ridiculous claims and outrageously backward logic in their op-eds. No offense, but I'll stick with the Wall Street Journal, thanks. |

![]() . That son of a bitch can't write a Basic Economics book without injecting so much fiscal conservative bias into it. The Economist is centrist. I see them praising austerity at times and increased government involvement at other times. Just depends on what kind of approach makes sense for a particular country given their economic state. |

It's simply the best magazine in the world that doesn't have topless photos.
It looks like the prices for the original links in the OP have been changed to a much higher rate. I received e-mails from The Economist for a $69 renewal rate for weekend sales events for Columbus Day in early October and a Pre-Holiday sale in late October. I signed up for both of them because I love this magazine so much. |

Head over to the WSJ opinion pages and count the Obama/Democrat bashing articles (http://online.wsj.com/public/page...inion_main) that come out daily. In picking a publication that is truly moderate, the Economist has the current WSJ beat, hands down. Last edited by 1.21gigawatts; 11-02-2012 at 11:49 PM.. |
