I know not everyone will agree... but if you are going to buy a safe to protect your valuable items... buy a real quality safe... the idea of putting all your eggs in one basket rings especially true here. I'm currently in the market for a safe and I'm probably going to end up with something more on the side of overkill.. but thats better than making it super easy for a thief to find all my most valuable items nicely packaged in a tin box. If you are just looking to keep kids out and have a very short amount of fire protection, by all means get something like this, but if you are going to be storing items in there that cost a lot of money, or even priceless... try to invest in something nicer. |

I think I might go with a small 6 gun safe for now. I don't have many firearms, and the point is to keep kids, house guests, and the average B&E from getting in. A small safe is just as useful for this, and I can put it upstairs in the master bedroom. |

Take the door off. Just open the door 90' and it just lifts off. It is like 100lbs. That makes it loads easier to move around. I was able to move the safe up 1 flight alone by taking the door off. I went slow. If you have help, take the door off, it should be an easy job. And for all the videos showing how safes like this are weak and be opened in 5 minutes or less, notice they are doing it out in the open with access to all sides. For once, I would like them to show a video of the same safe, bolted to the floor and wall, in the corner of the garage, or even better, in the closet with shelved/cabinets on both sides of the safe. Let's see them open it in 5 minutes or less. Last edited by s4alex; 11-11-2012 at 04:23 PM.. |

Pretty sure this is a Cannon as I have the same one and it's identical in every feature although mine has a built in AC/USB/RJ-45 outlet in the bottom.
Wish I would have waited, because I pad $200 more for mine. And I did manage to get this baby into my basement by myself. It's not as bad as you'd think. |

Rep me and I rep you back...in a short time we all have the highest rep EVER !!!

i am pretty sure this is not a cannon safe. i think costco sells many different brands. unless cannon is the same thing as big horn. which i don't see why it would be...
and take off the door! what an awesome idea... hopefully it will be able to slide off easy... that should make the job MUCH easier. thanks s4alex! |

At any rate, be warned that the interiors on these things stink like glue, plastic, etc from VOC outgassing. If you can, leave it out in your garage a for a week with the door open and let it air out. |
