Yeah it is one of the reasons I am holding out for the ST50, and you pose a good point about the price.

The 55ST50 can already be found for about 1k, so I am hoping near BF or so it might be priced sub-1k.

Nope... No smart features. No difference whatsoever. I have gone over the specs again and again. There is NO difference between the 5500 and the 6500...but still the 6500 is about $100 more expensive than the 5500 (atleast back when I bought it a few weeks ago)


For me angle is not an issue because the TV is only viewed from one angle... Whereas I can't complain about the quality... my plasma was pretty effin' amazin. But I can't handle the IR. And therfore I'll stick to LED.
I saw this TV [amazon.com] in person and the quality was pretty darn amazing. Waiting for the price to fall though.

I prefer to order from a company that doesn't charge tax. Amazon is last on the list.

I bought this a few weeks ago when Costco had it on sale for $700 ($370 manufacturer's instant discount). Couldn't pass it up (the sale just ended on the 31st). Even when you add in tax anywhere in the country, it would have come out to cheaper than this.

That said, it is still a great deal for a great TV. It is a whole hell of a lot of TV, as others have said, for a fantastic price. I'm in front of it right now and it has completely changed my viewing experience from the 720p 42" Haier that I previously had.

I highly, highly recommend it.

ADDENDUM: One interesting thing to note -- while Costco had their sale of this unit, Amazon listed the product ID # as the LG60PA6000, which they were arguing with Costco customers that the change qualified it as a different unit (thus no price match) even though they are the same - LG website says one is for retail, the other for club stores. Now that the Costco sale is over, Amazon just changed the product ID # back to the LG60PA6500. I'm a big Amazon fan, but that was just one sleazy move they just pulled.

Interesting that you only view your TV from one angle?

what do other people do that have to watch it from the other angles( because you wont watch it from another angle)....Deal with the change in color and brightness that occurs in LED with off angle viewing?

If price is not much of an issue...buy a higher end TV...Panasonic( GT or VT) or Samsung( 7000 or 8000) plasma

This T.V. has never been 700 at costco, It was 799$ plus tax (908$ out the door where we live) at costco for the last month, as you said ended at the end of the month.


Got it with the Amex card so a 3rd hassle free(in my experience) year of warranty.

All opinions it seems, but facts and professionals advocate and preach Plasma as 100% better than any other picture regardless of myths and IR (which passes and is not burn-in)

Was it $800? Apologies if it was. I'm sure you are correct. I just remember scouting out every deal under the sun for a few weeks while that sale was up and couldn't find another deal that came close to it. That would have made mine $847 at 6% tax, less the few bucks for AMEX cash back.

I added an additional three-year warranty to it on top of my AMEX which, I think, gives me ~6 years on it now (1 manufacturer + 1 Costco + 1 AMEX + 3 SquareTrade) for another $50 or so. Love this TV.

I live alone.
And even when I have guests over, The room that this TV is in, is set in such a way that there is one couch in front of it. That's it. So no other angles to worry about.

I wanna go 60" soon, but I am a Samsung fan. Currently have Samsung 55" LED 1080P. Love it!
