That is completely wrong as well. The discs from the 2007 set are completely 1080p. Now the filmed/recorded elements were assembled from all sorts of resolutions (480p/720p/1080i and p cameras) and eventually edited at 1080i25fps by the BBC studios and origianlly broadcast in Britain at 1080i50 then converted to 1080i60 for the North American broadcast.

The 2007 set was encoded at 1080p24fps though many of the outer boxes were labelled as 1080i while the inner covers were labelled 1080p (some of the later outer boxes were corrected to state 1080p). When you put the discs in the player or a BD-ROM it tells you 1080p24. The same goes for the 2007 5 disc UK set for the 4discs of the PE series though the bonus disc in 1080i60. The UK box is also labelled 1080i to account for the 5th discs and for legal reasons.

The 2011 US SE/LE set were re-encoded at 1080i60 for the US and 1080i50 for the UK SE set.

Confusing -- absolutely. But this has been states innumerable time, proven and proven again, but people continue to post the 1080i misinformation.





In North America and Japan, but not quite so much in Europe (BBC Studios) where most TV is based around 50Hz.

ok so in laymans terms should i buy this or not or wait for a better version?

Just a warning - there are evolutionist propaganda and NOT legitimate science endorsed by the Discovery Institute or Answers In Genesis.

I am not trying to start an Internet argument here, but using the phrase "legitimate science" in this statement is less than accurate.

I have wanted this set force while and have only recently gotten a blu-ray player. I am happy to hear that this documentary sticks to referencing the same evolutionary biology that any legitimate scientist would espouse.

I feel the need to pay 15 dollars more for the The Complete BBC Series on Amazon (five disc) for 1080p and the fifth disc on the natural world (snow leopards)

ok guys can you help a noob out. I want to buy this for my wife and I as we've heard good things about it. We've never seen any of these "Planet Earth" videos. Are there more than one version of this video? If so which one is the best one to buy? Thanks for the help.
