Figured I'd start a separate thread for the panny plasma's since the HDTV thread seems to be moving more towards a budget HDTV buying guide side and I got tired of reading through a lot of information about westinghouse, proscan and other budget HDTV brands.

I myself am most interested in the GT50 or ST50 models...hoping that the 55 inch GT will go under 1100 or that the 60 inch ST will go below 1000...

Note that Panasonic charges tax to most locales but shipping is free.
EastCoastTvs.com only charges tax to NJ residents.

Do your research on all sellers before placing an order.

If you are a Costco member see post 216 in regards to warranty options and differences from square trade.

Hope you guys weren't waiting for the 55GT50 to go any lower and were just late to the game, which would stink. Amazon's price at $1,349.00 + 2% rewards promotion + 3% Amazon credit card cash back really was a great deal! Looks like this Adorama deal might be your best bet now. It looks like they are a Panasonic authorized consumer electronics retailer.
I have the Amazon credit card but always use my other credit card. Is the 3% credited automatically or do you have sign up for the promotion first? Is there a link to explain the promotion? I couldn't find any info on it on Amazon but I probably didn't know where to go.

Here is information regarding the 2% deal [amazon.com]. In short, 35 days after shipment, your 2% Rewards will automatically convert into a promotional code that can be used on a future purchase of any item sold by Amazon.com (excluding digital goods).

Here is information regarding 3% / 3 points back on your Amazon credit card [amazon.com] for Amazon.com purchases. You can redeem these points when making future purchases at Amazon.com, but I always get a statement credit or cash back check. It doesn't make sense to use the points on future Amazon.com since then you're not getting 3% for that money not charging to the credit card. Edit: You redeem these points either while checking out at Amazon.com or directly through the credit card website, which is what I do.

That's a damn good price. Lowest it's ever been on Amazon is $1945 and Panasonic is $2k. I'd say jump on it for $1779 out the door. I would buy it right now if I could get it for that price.
Hey BDeck, not sure you realize that you just posted basically the same price @adorama just two posts before his!

I got the 55VT50 at BB last night for $1779 out the door. I paid but did not pick up. He said I can come back today to pick up.

Is this good price or should I cancel and wait ?
Thats a great price if its out the door.

Looks like I'll be ordering from adorama then.

From what I understand, there is negligible difference between the ST50 and the GT50 but a huge difference stepping up to the VT50. So either go with the ST50 or the VT50.
I thought I had done some good research..l but now I am 2nd guessing myself. I thought the gt50 was considerably better than the st50..

The experts say that the ST50 can look just as good as the GT50 (using the THX calibration) if you get the ST50 professionally calibrated. I'm mobile now, but I can find the link in a little while.

ETA: This is the thread I found comparing ST50 vs GT50 http://www.highdefjunkies.com/sho...hp?t=13269

I was gonna get it calibrated via bb w/ premier silver. Is the VT50 worth the extra dough?

Thanks! Wow. I checked out the website and browsed all their credit card offerings. I didn't realize Amazon have been promoting so many different cards. This is getting off topic but correct me if I'm wrong, but I could apply for all of them and get a $50 Amazon gift card or whatever the card is offering for each card I get? Now I just have to verify that the card I already have is the Amazon Visa Rewards Visa.

Oh well, I bit on the GT50. I was planning on getting a calibrating device and doing it myself, but will probably just stick to the out of the box THX settings. We're in a bright room as well so thought the extra THX settings would save us time and hassles with dealing with that. Can someone repost that squaretrade post with Costco? Planning to add the extended from there as well and thinking of some 3d glasses now. Thanks for everyone's info, esp. BDeck's...

I'd say go to the Magnolia dept in your local Best Buy to take a look at the panels so you can determine that yourself Smilie You can compare the GT50 and VT50 side by side.
