Figured I'd start a separate thread for the panny plasma's since the HDTV thread seems to be moving more towards a budget HDTV buying guide side and I got tired of reading through a lot of information about westinghouse, proscan and other budget HDTV brands.

I myself am most interested in the GT50 or ST50 models...hoping that the 55 inch GT will go under 1100 or that the 60 inch ST will go below 1000...

Black Friday isn't even here yet. Wait for the "SECRET deals" like last year.

Planning to buy P55ST50. Called Paul's TV. The rep told me straight forward - the $250 gift cards that they are offering came to them for free. They are really crappy gift cards.

The rep suggested that I can go for Samsung Active Glasses (Model SSG4100GB) with the P55ST50. He said they work very well with the Panasonic plasma, and are 1/3rd the cost. Any suggestions/recommendations on this ?

The Samsung glasses work just as well as the Panasonic ones but they don't block out as much light on the sides. This is fine if your room is darker.

Just snagged a 50ut50 in store at Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha, NE for $724. Stoked!

The guy that was helping me on the sales floor said not to expect anything great on name brand stuff BF and CM based on past history. They mark down off brand and mark up name brand those days generally.

So, considering all the possibilities, what does everyone think of going with a professional model display? I found the TH-50PH30U [amazon.com] for only $1039, although it does seem to be on back order.

[edit] noticed it's 720p on the panny website, that could explain the price. Looking for configurability and lack of post processing here though.
