I've been running CM10 on my Nook Color and even though it's an alpha version, it's more stable than other tablets I've purchased (Lenovo A1, I'm looking at you). It's not slow at all, even as the devs disabled overclocking for the time being.

I can see using this as a photo viewer, but do people seriously watch movies and TV shows on a 7" screen?

My NC battery wont hold charge anymore. A fully charged battery will only last about 20 minutes if that. Consequently, I basically have to keep it plugged in all the time when I am using it. From what I understand, it's extremely difficult to swap out the battery.

Hate to ask a stupid question but my wife is wanting a e-reader. If I have amazon prime, would it be better to get a kindle or a nook?

This may be a stupid question, but why spend an extra $40 for the same item with the same manfacturer's warranty. I don't like refurbished stuff, but doesn't a manufacturer's warranty alleviate warranty concerns regarding build-quality?

I don't think Prime has any relation to e-books, parkerwilson, beside offering Prime members one free book (of Amazon's choice?) each month at no cost.

With an SD card to boot the Nook to an Android operating system, and booting it to the Android system, you can add Android apps for both Kindle and Nook to her Nook. If you are not computer savvy, this is as simple as selecting Android when you turn the device on.

that's actually a brilliant question. I suppose if someone wants something that looks brand spanking new. but your point is taken. I'll have to rethink this SD.

I picked up a nook simple touch refurb in the spring and I use it literally every day. Rooting it into an android tablet took a few hours of watching videos online and building up the nerve to do it, but the actual rooting process takes only a few minutes. totally worth it. That being said if you have prime and a kindle you get access to the kindle lending library (which you do not get if you just download the kindle app for android). I am not sure what all the lending library entails, but if you want a lending library for ebooks i suggest you join....a library. Most public libraries have ebooks you can checkout online and mine is a pretty simple process. Considering you can get the NST for $40 on ebay I'd go that way.
