I have the Red switch version of this. Height is higher than most keyboards, but you don't necessarily need a wrist rest or anything.
I don't think anybody will find too much different between Red vs. Brown. They're gonna feel about the same. Brown is gonna be less noisy. |

Theres no noticeable audible difference between browns and reds. The only difference is a small tactile point on the browns midway just before the key operates. (Which a few of us find irritating, why couldn't the tactile point be just AFTER? ugh. Tho I admit I'm extra nitpicky here ;P) Methinks you are thinking either about people who bottom out too much. Not the same as one being noisyer than the other. Or yer thinking of Blues, the thunderous clickity-clacks from hell... Good deal overall that said. |

I decided to bite the bullet on the mx black version of this. So far so good, despite the
"ione is trash" comments, plus I couldn't resist it for $50.58 shipped. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

This is a great deal. I own both keyboards with brown and red switches. I find that brown switches are overall better due to the fact that they have a soft tactile bump that you feel when you press any of the keys. The red switches do not have this tactile bump.
If you didn't know, the way mechanical keyboards work is that a key press is registered half way down when they're depressed and you dont need to press the key all the way down. When you have brown switches, you can feel the moment when the keys are actually registered. And this very reason is why I feel brown switches are overall better for typing or gaming than black or red switches. |

i got this the last time there was a rebate on newegg. I would say that its satisfactory as my first mechanical; it takes quite a bit of getting used to the higher keys, different actuation and the fact that you have to hit the keys the 'right' way to get it to go down smoothly; I still haven't managed to get back to my old wpm on the cheap k120 logitech. Still, I have no complaints, the keyboard seems quite solid and the media keys are useful.
Apparently most of the DOA reports are from people who don't insert the mini usb end of the cable into the keyboard properly; it takes quite a bit of force to get it to 'click' in. |
