Deal is dead.
 I was debating whether to get two this morning when I saw the price and figured I have plenty of time to decide since this isn't the first time it dropped to $149.99 (wished it was lower) and now it's $170.85 by third-party sellers. |

Well we ended up buying 20 of the 3tb about 20 minutes ago. sorry. It costs us more to buy the 2TB from our wholesale vendor than buying the 3TB from Amazon with Prime

So I ended up placing an order for the 2TB, I really wanted the 3TB version but seems like there are no more deals out there for 3TB drives.

I am waiting for this to go on sale at newegg again which it was for the same price and no sales tax for me in NY. I need three of these bad boys. Not sure what NAS to get though.. still leaning towards a 4 bay Synology.
It is in stock again at amazon right now though. |

Got to love Amazon's dynamic pricing and inventory... in stock, out of of stock, in stock, out of stock, in stock, out of stock .. all within 45 minutes.
Finally decided to go for it when it came back in stock for 2 of the 3TB drives (for my Intel RAID 1 desktop setup). |

UPS delivered my order of two of the 3TB drives this morning.
For those who were wondering what the packaging is like, here are some photos that I took. This was shipped from Amazon.com's warehouse in Richmond, VA. My impression? The drives were well packed. The boxes (sealed) were original WD brown/OEM boxes and with their own individual carriers. Any recommendations on what software should I use to test the drive thoroughly? I'll be setting these up as a RAID 1 (onboard my ASUS motherboard) with Windows 8 Pro and the boot drive will be an SSD. This two will replace an existing set of RAID 1 Hitachi 1TB drives.
