It is too a corner model, says so in the product specifications under "mount type." Maybe the corner piece can be taken off.

Looking at the manual, the corner piece is extra and you don't need to attach it. I'm in for one.

Yes. I get the same effect from turning on my $39 Delonghi heater and playing a fireplace screensaver from my HTPC onto my flat screen TV. I get the "fireplace" heat, sounds, and visuals. Revolutionary.

Seriously though...this is just a TV (with only one show) and space heater in one. Is $300 really a great deal for something that a DVD or screensaver and a portable heater could accomplish?

I've got two of these. Mine are the Amish one's tho. They sent me one and it had a slightly cracked mantle, so I got them to send me another one, and they never came and got the one that was cracked. It's still sitting in the box. The cracks not bad. I suppose I could sell it.

Like somebody said...there's basically no difference between these and the cheap electric radiator space heaters.

Many people claim that electric heat is inefficient. This is not true. While it may cost more, electric heat is almost 100% efficient (almost all of the electricity you're paying for goes into making the heat) vs the best gas/oil furnaces + boilers are ~90% efficient (90% of the energy in the gas/oil makes heat, the rest goes up your chimney).

So the net is... you won't save any money heating the same space to the same temperature for the same duration with this heater vs your existing electric heat.

That said, different types of heat are more "comfortable" than others.. so electric radiant heat will be more comfortable than electric heat that heats just the air...

I don't know why people keep comparing this to cheap space heaters. This is essentially a piece of furniture. I have a similar one that I barely use as a heater because it is a beautiful fireplace in the home. The comparisons to space heaters is kind of nonsense.

I seriously considered buying this one once before. I might just have to do it this time.

I dont know if anyone is still checking this deal, but I got the one a few weeks back and cant for the life of me figure out how to change the thermostat temperature? The manual is no help whatsoever.
