What's wrong with working on Thanksgiving Day for ppl working retail? The other days of the year, they practically DO NOTHING! Thanksgiving is the ONLY day they have to do something in return for being paid. (and may I say the compensation is pretty nice, one and half).
The only risk I see here is making sure you stay the heck outta harm's way. Avoid being trampled and getting killed by mad crowd. Other than that, just act like zombies. Scan, tell customers the total, print receipt, hand it to the customers, say "Thanks/Bye". Rinse, repeat. |

There will be news stories talking about how they are ruining Thanksgiving. This is a risky move for a store. They will get a lot of pushback from the public for making a move like this. They really shouldn't screw around with the holiday, it's not a shopping holiday. The intention is to give thanks for what we have, not go out and try to get some more stuff. I think midnight should be the earliest a store should try to push out to. There would have to be one hell of a deal to make me skip one of our best holidays.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes.

I used to go out of BF for the fun of it, get a few super cheap items (usually DVD/CD/Games), and just enjoy the insanity. I no longer have really any interest in that anymore, the lines have become longer, and the deals (IMO) are "Meh" usually (Since I've found SD )Last edited by waaaagh; 11-06-2012 at 12:07 PM.. The biggest thing Im looking at is are they really gonna be able to get everyone out of the store to close the doors for 4 hours or 2 hours.
I might try and go to the Thursday morning opening for a few things but will probably skip over Kmart for the "Friday" shopping |

I think that is terrible that they make their employees work on Thanksgiving! My brother has worked for over 10 years at the movie theater and must work holidays including Thanksgiving. He was told if he ever requests those days off, he will be fired. So before you go out and shop on Thanksgiving, please picture the owners of these corporations having a wonderful dinner prepared by their chefs, served by their butlers and cleaned up by their maids while they send their underpaid employees out to make them money that is paid for by you. End the process and leave Thanksgiving to be enjoyed as a family. There are other days to shop. There are other days to go to the movies. But how many days are there to be with your loved ones?

Nice pay? Again are you serious? The majority of retail workers (not management)start near minimum wage and don't make much more even after several years. So she gets to make $13/hour to work at Midnight on Thanksgiving all so some smart aleck like you can make these kinds of comments. You are a jerk. |

I'm confused by their hours. They are opening with those TV deals at 6AM Thursday?
Does that mean to pick up some TV's/Tablets I'll have to be there at 3AM? Their ad states 6AM, so it is perplexing. Also, are you limited with Doorbusters if they are different items? Could you pick up a tablet and a 32" TV? New to all of this.
