First off, I don't see how this would do anything for you. Still, based on this message, you should just buy a $30 android box plus a $15 wireless remote to go with it, or better yet a cheap $25-$30 DVD player with Netflix capability.

Got my Prime today! So far it is great! Easier setup than my pcie tuner. Quality looks the same (as I expected). Using it just for QAM tuning. Previously I had my HTPC recording all of my TV but when I wanted to watch live tv in my office or bedroom (on my main PC or laptop) it would be annoying since opening up a show while it's recording caused it to not show the full length. If you wanted to keep watching you would have to keep stopping and resuming for it to update the length of the recording. This solves that issue and gives me more flexibility!

Recording 2 channels at once is running around 28-34Mbit/s

OTA is working great with my XBMC setup. Nice being able to watch live TV plus all my media in one setup.

Got my tuner. Verizon wants $20 to ship the cable card. They say that they do not carry cable cards in store so there is no way to pick it up and avoid the fee. I'm sick of these bullshit cable companies and their nickle and diming for everything on top of their ridiculously priced service.

Refer them to FCC Rule 76.1205(b)(1) [fcc.gov].

Thanks for pointing that out! But I'm not sure if that would make them particularly responsible to carry them in stores?

edit: OK well I just called back and now some guy said that they DO carry them, and placed an order for me to pick up/drop off nearby. The other guy sounded so confident that they no longer carry them, what a moron - or maybe I'm the moron who believed the first rep I spoke with.

Could be region specific, both Time Warner and Verizon have CableCards on hand at their retail locations here.

Reps usually don't know much about CableCards.

When you are ready to activate, log into your "My Verizon" account, you can download the utility to activate the CableCard without having to talk to misinformed reps.

Probably depends on where you live. I got mine on Saturday, but it looks like it came from Amazon warehouse in KY.
