Time Warner just started charging for "leasing" their modem.
I'm thinking of cancelling my service, I won't be ripped off $50/year for their modem!
In any case, is this modem compatible and appropriate to replace their modem for internet?
Thanks in advance.
Not officially. The approved modem is sb6141 which is $95 or so on ebay presently (and slightly better). You can of course find the docsis 2.0 modems used on ebay (in working order) for $25 or less. Depends entirely on what internet speeds you need. If you are on road runner standard, the $25 modem would work perfectly fine.
Quote from hitechgurl :
Why wait for Black Friday to get this when its already on sale at frys and target.
My local target only had sb6120 on the shelves. So its very YMMV

BAD BAD MAIL IN REBATE COMPANIES:
Xigmatek 26 weeks, 14 emails, 2 phone calls (finally received)
NZXT 21 weeks, 4 phone calls. Check that was finally received was dated 2 months earlier with a 90 day expiration on it, giving me about 25 days to cash it. Shady shady shady.
