Like this one quite a bit but I'd love to have a hybrid solid state drive for instant on. Hm. Also 17" in huge, and the resolution is somewhat crappy 1600x900.

Any other options on this lappy?

I find the best bang for the buck Dell laptop deals are in February and March when they clear out old stock.

It has the model in the ad, that link isn't right. dv6-7247cl. Of course that model says 6GB of ram where the ad says 8GB. But 15.6 with crappy 1368 resolution. Good processor though.

Go to BestBuy and play with the Yoga13 first. Save yourself that Lenovo 15% restock fee.

My friend has a DV7 (from the Sam's Club deal a few months ago) and it does greatly with all the major videos, blu rays, and gaming he throws at it. I'm sure the DV6 would prefer just as greatly especially since its a laptop too.

I spent 40 minutes playing with the display on launch day and really tried to like it. For $1000 the Yoga13 is a fail. Three and a half pounds, screen is only 900p, no backlit keyboard, no rear camera, keyboard is exposed in tablet mode, the demo I tried had trouble rotating from horizontal to vertical in tablet mode and the 128Gb SSD is broken into EIGHT partitions! Specs are laughable as an ultrabook, but because Lenovo put a double hinge on it we as suppose to pay $1000 for one instead of $700.

After testing out several last week, I don't think convertible laptops are viable because of the weight. Hybrid designs with detachable keyboards like the Asus Transformer Book, Samsung Ativ and maybe even the MicroSoft Surface Pro are the way to go.

Yeah kinda odd. I found the laptop @ Walmart, but that model number laptop should come with SIX GB of RAM. Sam's AD says 8 so who really knows? It does come with 2GB of 630M graphics

Not to steal the thread, but am I the only one thinking about a PS Vita if there's no deal on a gaming laptop? PC gaming is cheaper, but $800 for a Lenovo is pretty expensive.

Can't seem to find the correct DV6 link, and yes that is a decidedly tepid deal IMO.

I am looking for a laptop for my daughter daily school use, don't need to be very powerful but like it to be as light as possible (no budget for a ultrabook yet), which one is better:
