im looking for a laptop for my friend she said nothing fancy for everyday use her budget is $400 kmart/target/walmart/radioshack would be the stores ill be able to go on blckfriday

Well, mid range graphic games, yes, Intel HD Graphics 4000 and Radeon HD 7640G can pull off with medium-max. But I wouldn't call it even near to be a gaming laptop. :s
They aren't gaming laptops yes but we aren't asking for gaming laptops, we're asking for laptops that can do some good gaming. All those i5's and i7's on for sale can do some great gaming on high with most of the current games. It can't play the latest most power pushing games on max but it will play them on low to medium on a great frame rate. For games like Portal 2, BioShock, Blacklight, etc. it can play those on max and look great.
The industry found out it's cheaper to produce screens for 1366x768 instead of the original 1280x800, so everyone switched to them (I think there are a few company that kept the original resolution, but definitely not the companies making laptops for Black Friday).
1280x800 is low resolution also. Its even lower than 1366x768
