Only nitpick is the 750 GB 5400 RPM drive. If it was 7200 RPM, it would be ideal. Oh, and the Windows 7 pre-loaded instead of 8. Otherwise, sweet find!

This is hot...full HD display, SSD drive, blu-ray drive, and overall should be a very decent gaming laptop for under 1000$

and you don't have to downgrade to windows 8, but it's free if you want it @ www.rebate4u.com slightly better than $850 from 2 months ago because you get 32gb ssd for $18 more.

I have the Y560, and it's great -- once you get past all the truly horrendous default drivers. I bought it as a Slickdeal, and it took about two months before Lenovo had the right display and mouse drivers. It was a nightmare for a while. I'm very hesitant to buy Lenovo again unless I've read many reviews stating a specific model actually works out of the box.
Oh, and of course, make sure you put a clean install of Windows 7 on here, the default software is a trainwreck. I wish I could get this Y580, actually, the specs are fantastic for the price. I emulate PS2 at full power with a much weaker machine, I couldn't imagine needing this much power. |

man i have the asus model with the 650m bluray ,etc from micro center got that a in the summer for 999...sigh

I got this laptop from Amazon. The screen is amazing and it handles most of the games I threw at it. The only downside is probably the track pad, but that's most laptop.
