FYI, even though its HD, it will only show HD via a PC web browser. It will show SD using an app on android/iphone.

I would avoid the HD one (FI9820W). It's substantially more "zoomed-in" than the 50-degree vs. 60-degree FOV specs imply and its low-light performance is terrible, so you'll be using the IR all the time. Based on my calculations, the individual pixels on the image sensor are about 1/6 the size of those on the FI8910W (640x480 MJPEG) and FI8608W (640x480 H.264).

From my testing, the FI8608W has substantially better image quality than the FI8910W, but it's hard to say if it's worth the price difference. FI8608W also has a problem with WPA passwords longer than 31 characters, while FI8910W does not (not sure how FI9820W fares here).

yes, they can as long as you mount them in a dry place. I don't think the cold will matter, especially if they are switched on, it stays a little warm.
I have them outside, works well.
Combine this with blue iris monitoring software [blueirissoftware.com] and you get yourself an advanced security system.

I disagree. I have IP Cam Viewer Pro and tinyCam Monitor Pro installed on my android (S3) and the tinyCam Monitor Pro app works much better.

IP Cam Viewer Pro has choppy video and takes longer to connect. The tinyCam Monitor Pro app has smooth video and I also like the whole interface and function of the app better. I tested the two several times standing in the same location.

As far as this camera goes. If you need it, get it. I am not disappointed.

I have 4 of these cameras and they all work great. For Android use TinyCam - I got the pro version for $2 on a recent sale.

Note that if you buy from anyone EXCEPT Foscam direct, there is no warranty (other than what's provided by, say, a CC).
