That stinks just a little... I ordered the white 500R back on 10/18, got the same $30 rebate so after that it will be $90... Getting the black one for $80 or $69 is not bad, it is a pretty good case. Since I prefer the white and I've got my build done already I guess I'm okay with the higher price paid...
FYI - The case comes with 4 fans already, 2 front 120mm white LED intakes, 1 rear 120mm exhaust and that huge 200mm white LED side intake one. The only other places to put the additional 120mm fan would be in one of the top 2 exhaust positions or at the bottom in front of the power supply as an intake - unless you wish to remove the side 200mm fan. I like the 10 bay with 9 hd and 1 ssd on it.

For those on the fence, I have the white black 2 tone 500r and love it. I happen to like the white, but if you're looking for a builder friendly case, I love this. Got it for XMas last year.

Shh, i bought the P280 couple weeks ago bc I just cant wait for these, but the P280 did fine for me except the power/reset buttons are on the top.

Picked up the 500r in black about 6 months ago to replace the Antec 902 v3 I had been using.
Build quality is damn near perfect, not a big fan of the bright white LEDs on the fans, but you can turn them off. The cable routing is top notch and nearly every one of the holes has a decent rubber grommet. The front filter screens are an absolute bitch to clean but the bottom filter screen just slides out. My only "real" gripe is the corsair fans using their own style of connectors, but whatever. They are all quiet and variable speed out of the box so it's not a deal breaker for me. Unless I do something stupid and break it beyond my ability to repair somehow I see this thing housing my personal build for years. I paid around 40 dollars for it after selling my antec case to someone I was building a rig for but would have paid full price without regret. If you are in the market for a new versatile mid tower you can't do a lot better than the 500r. |
