They're like 4 hour single player continuations of the HL2 story. They're great, showcasing new thing that valve has learned how to do since HL2 with scripting, AI, and graphics. For $1.50 each they're totally worth it I think. I think I bought each for $10 and am still pleased (naturally wish I had got them now of course).

I think I've played through HL2 about 3 times start to finish, Ep1 and Ep2 twice. Go through them every couple of years since they're so well put together and fun. Developer commentary mode is really cool as well... video game equivalent to a DVD commentary by the cast.

EDIT Dang I think I'm talking myself into some purchases here.. probably Portal 2...

That was Valve's attempt at releasing Half-Life 3 in an "episode" format. There was some negative backlash about the length vs cost for each episode, so the third episode never got released. I'm guessing a full game release of Half-Life 3 will be produced, continuing the story from Half-Life 2 - Episode 2.

I wont as they are steam DRM protected. Steam needs to be running to play.

I kind of stopped playing video games about 5 years ago, but between these sales on HL and the free Battlefield 1942, I might have an excuse to get back into games that I have yet to play but have always wanted to (I did love the original HL).


My question is this:

My computer currently sucks for running intensive tasks (it's a netbook), but I'll probably be buying a new computer sometime within the next 3-6 months. With Steam (I've never used it), is it possible to buy these games now, activate (or wait to activate), and then put the games on my new computer later? OR, can I put these games on my current computer, then wipe that computer clean and sell, and then put the games on my new computer?

You can do either. You can also purchase them as a gift so they just get placed into your inventory. That way you can sell them later if you decide otherwise.
