Guess I'll have to think about it for a while... LED and plasma have both come up short in one area or another since I have so many use cases. I was almost sold on DLP until I learned more about this overscan issue. If I buy a new TV, the image has to look good. We stream a lot so I'm wondering how good Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc. look on this set running through a PC... LEDs and Plasma's have overscan too but they usually have a 1:1 Pixel mapping mode like Just Scale or Just Fit or whatever. Every TV you've ever owned has had overscan. Rear Projection can't really do 1:1 pixel mapping but it's reasonably close (typically within 5%) and with video card scaling/overscan compensation it's mostly a moot point IMO. I don't stream over the internet really (I do own a 3D Vudu movie that I can use the PS3 to stream though) however all video and movie content are 4:2:0 chroma sub sampling so they'll look fine on any HDTV. They're already stripped of the information that a PC monitor would have the advantage over an HDTV. That lack of information isn't really noticeable on content in motion such as movies and TV shows. Static images like text or using Photoshop/graphics software to make professional prints would benefit from the 4:4:4 chroma sub sampling. So basically if you mean by desktop usage for streaming video like Youtube, Hulu, Netflix, Vudu, or Amazon Prime you'll be just fine. If you like the cinematic/theater look then DLP is the way to go. Ordered on the Thu the 8th and delivered on the Fri the 9th (apparently, it was a local delivery).
So far, so good. Aside from the vertical viewing angle, the picture quality is superb. The only other caveat I have is that there's no inputs in the front, but that's a minor quibble. |

I decided to pull the trigger and get this one from Paul's TV via Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/...e=&seller= Current model, they agreed to give me a 4 year warranty n/c plus the whole delivery deal, $1682 total plus I got to use a big credit I had from Amazon plus the rest is on their 12 months to pay at 0% interest deal, so it will be pretty painless plus the final kicker is they have a 30 day price match guarantee, so if it drops either there or anywhere else, they will refund the difference, so I am covered if it gets cheaper for BF, etc. My 73" will prob end up in my kitchen/family room if I can figure out something to put it on-not going to pay $300 for a stand. Maybe an old dresser or something, Open to suggestions on that, BTW. Thanks. |

Price matches must be like for like with the same model number, product condition, shipping charges, bundled items, taxes and any other fees or terms and conditions associated with the purchase from the competitor. Price Match policy excludes special prices offered the week of Black Friday thru Cyber Monday (November 18th thru November 26th 2012). |

ordered on the 7th, and it came in yesterday. I'm in atlanta.
my current stand is 22" tall, and from floor to top of tv it is probably 6' tall. lol. it is a beast! my sofa is 19" tall, and eye level ends up being below the middle of the tv. the viewing angles on this (and dlp in general) are pretty sensitive. the tops can sometimes appear darker due to this. Looking for a stand that will hold my components and is at the right height is pretty difficult, so I think I may just raise my sofa. lol. if i raise it between 6-10" viewing will be excellent. i did watch a movie last night as is, and thought the picture was excellent. |

Well I missed the devliery guys by an hour (stupid job called me in on my day off) and now the tv won't be delivered until the 26th maybe. How the heck are you supposed to get this damn tv when they only deliver during normal business hours and you work a regular 9-5 job? Certainly not taking vacation time to accept a delivery.
