Had the 65" from the dell thanksgiving deal a few years ago, sold it to my tenants once I moved out of my house and leased it to them for $600. I'd buy this if I still had the room, they are great TVs. It'll be years until 4K is affordable by SD standards

I bought the 73 inch Mitsubishi when Best Buy had it for 699 and free shipping Best deal I ever got on a TV I have had mine for almost a year now and it is outstanding. These are the only TV`s with 6 colors. Great picture quality. No other technolgy gives you as much bang for the buck. |

I bought the 73840 a not to long ago so I just wanted to share my experience. Its great for TV, xbox, and 3d movies! I can't wait to play WiiU on it. Its terrible for connecting a PC or trying to play 3d games. (Most all TVs are going to be terrible for 3D games because you will never get 120 HZ from an HDMI cable, no matter how much you pay.) The biggest problem is these TVs are made by throwing a bunch of parts together and then trying to calibrate it all in software. They will have overscan, meaning the picture projected is bigger than the opening. They do this to hide the misalignments or maybe things that have shifted in transport. Mine is actually slightly tilted but you don't notice till there is a line really close to the edge. When you software calibrate it you actually lose resolution. Most of this stuff doesn't matter for TV and movies, or games. Its a royal pain in the butt for PCs. I can't get my PC to send surround sound to my TV but this wont be an issue for you because the 740 is only stereo. I have also found that the colors are not as exact. Mine is obviously not calibrated and I'm spoiled with my HP displays on PC. While surfing reddit I noticed that I can't tell the difference between purple and blue. I personally don't care about the 30 seconds for the bulb to warm up. Its an easy all in one solution to home theather for me in my apartment where I can't mount things or run wires in the walls. Its cheap for the size, and I enjoy it. Last edited by UltraLazer; 11-06-2012 at 11:25 AM.. |

If you are considering an 82" DLP set, you owe it to yourself to look into Front Projection then...for the same of less money you can get 1080p at any size you want, assuming you can do a little light control in the room. You'll need less light control (but not much) for the 82", but you'll need a lot more space.
Just something to consider, in many cases a self-contained DLP would work fine. |

I was very much interested in DLP TVs after reading how it works and Pros, however read this Con in Wiki, Is the lag too problematic in videogames:
Response time in video games may be affected by upscaling lag. While all HDTVs have some lag when upscaling lower resolution input to their native resolution, DLPs are commonly reported to have longer delays. Newer consoles such as the Wii do not have this problem as long as they are connected with HD-capable cables.[10] Secondly, will there be better deals during thanksgiving? |

I used the 73" version of this DLP to play games all the time and never noticed any lag at all. That includes playing games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero. I also never had problems with lag while playing in 3D. Xbox and PS3 were both hooked up via HDMI cables, Wii was on component. No problems with either, ever. |
