Well, maybe not so much tipping over but from sliding off the stand. Perhaps I'm being irrational, but my old TV was an old 500 lb projection that even had its own "cabinet stand." And while it never got tipped over, it does have some bangs on it.

And yes, I have monkeys for friends. That not even including the little ones.

This is common knowledge for any modern electronic device with a screen...

A tip for those getting this kind of TV who may have not owned a Rear Projection TV before, DO NOT use Windex or any glass cleaner with ammonia to clean the screen if it gets dirty. It'll ruin the plastic screen. I use Sprayway, which can probably be found at Walmart. Also you might want to use a micro fiber cloth and not paper towels.

Not trying to be an a$$ but if you think a drunk is gonna drive through your door one day a little wire anchored to the wall is not gonna save your TV. Why are you worrying about it tipping over? You are not living with monkeys, are you?
lol, he didn't mean a drunk driver, just a drunk pedestrian (roomate/friend) walking/falling into the tv causing it to possibly tip over bulb

My 82" TV arrived today from Paul's TV. I was looking forward to the "white glove" service since I am on the second floor. Of course the delivery guy shows up alone and asks me to help carry the TV up the stairs and into my place and help set it up. I was excited to finally have the TV so it didn't bother me that much.

We get the TV on the stand, it turns on, everything looks great. We power it down, I hook in my PS3 via HDMI to see an HD signal and the TV doesn't turn on ever again. After about 45 mins of his phone calls and button pushing it is assumed that the lamp is dead.

Hurray! I get to pack up the TV and carry it back down the stairs!

Paul's TV tells me it could be another 2 weeks before I get a replacement. Ugh... There goes sports, video games and movies over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Not a very good first order with Paul's TV.

picture below if u dont believe me
That is not a wall mount. You have it on a shelf. There is no way you can put $140+ pounds on a wall straight up without industrial strength studs and equipment.

You should just take a refund. There are no more new 740's, so what probably want to send is a refurb. Screw that.

My 742 is working perfectly. I even managed to find a very hard to get replacement lamp for backup purposes. MNF was awsome last night.
It does not always pay to by the cheapest one you can get that is a discontinued model with less features and minimal availability.

I had to carry the TV with the only delivery guy from the curb into the house. Everything fired up fine. There's a small scratch on the back casing. Screen and bezel are square and tight without play or leak. Is this the warranty you guys have been talking about?

I spoke to them about this. They told me that they keep a few extras in stock for the purpose of exchanges. So a new one is still supposed to be brand new.

I went ahead and told them to send me another. Although with the holiday and shipping, it will probably be 2 weeks before it gets here.

If you had a picture at any time your tv is probably fine call Mitsubishi for help and read the manual. The tv has a status light on the front which tells you what the tv is doing see Pg31 for what they mean.Try a reset hold power button on tv for 10 seconds light will begin to flash and tv will reset may take a minute to complete. DLP takes 60 seconds to cool with its fan after power off was the set unplugged from power during this time? were you getting something other than the green light on the front? was there sound but no picture?
I recommend using a good surge protector and verify electrical ground is functioning.

He didn't bother with any of that. Instead, he brain-deadly gave up and actually helped the guy carry it again.

Crazy, man.

Not in my world.

The TV turned on fine the first time. Static, menu displays, sound. Turned it off and the green light blinked for a minute like you stated. I hooked up my PS3 via HDMI to see an HD feed. Hit the power button and it was solid green. Nothing on the screen. None of the buttons worked on remote, no sound. Couldn't even turn the TV off. Unhooked PS3.

Did the reset trick by holding in the power button and same thing happened. Green light blinked for a minute then went off. Turned on, nothing. Buttons unresponsive.

We called Mitsubishi and they wanted to know if there was light shining out of the vents in the back which there wasn't. During this time, the TV made a loud static sound for a split second and the light turned red, indicating the lamp failure.

Did another reset, turned it on, green light, no picture, unresponsive... after 5 more minutes of it being on we get the static sound and light back to red.
